Portland's indoor arena in the Rose Quarter
Moda Center is a 19,393-seat indoor arena in Portland's Rose Quarter, and it is the home of the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA. The revived Portland Fire of the WNBA joined it as a tenant for the 2026 season, and the building also hosts arena concert tours, family shows and other events. For hockey and lacrosse the floor is reset and capacity drops to 18,280.
The arena opened in October 1995 as the Rose Garden and took the Moda Center name in August 2013 under a naming deal with Moda Health. It sits next to Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the Blazers' original home, on a campus with its own garages and a MAX light rail transit center.
- Trail Blazers: the NBA regular season runs October into April, with playoff games possible from mid-April.
- Portland Fire: the WNBA season fills the summer months, when the arena would otherwise lean on concerts.
- Concerts and shows: year-round, in end-stage, center-stage or the smaller Theater of the Clouds setup.
Moda Center seating chart: how the levels work
The Moda Center seating chart is a two-bowl design. Knowing which bowl a section belongs to tells you most of what you need about the view.
- 100 level: the lowest seats in the lower bowl, wrapping the court and starting just behind the floor seats.
- 200 level: the upper rows of the same lower bowl, with no deck between them and the 100s. The 200s still sit close to the action.
- Suite ring: 70 suites and 8 skyboxes separate the two bowls.
- 300 level: the upper bowl, above the suites. This is where the lowest-priced seats are, and the jump in height from the 200s is noticeable.
Sideline sections face the court lengthwise and are the most sought after on every level. Corner and end sections cost less because you look down the length of the floor rather than across it.
The venue publishes separate seating charts for end-stage concerts, center-stage concerts and the Theater of the Clouds, and notes that stage configurations change from show to show. Section numbers vary by layout, so read the map attached to your listing rather than assuming a basketball section has the same view at a concert.
Best seats for Blazers games, concerts and smaller shows
Basketball
- Lower 100 level along the sideline: the closest regular seats and the best sense of pace. Rows a few back from the floor see over the benches and courtside crowd.
- 200 level along the sideline: often the best balance of view and price. You are high enough to read plays developing and still part of the lower bowl's noise.
- 100 level behind the baskets: fine for watching one end, but depth is hard to judge at the far end and the stanchion can get in the way in the lowest rows.
- 300 level: the value choice. Stay close to center court, because the upper corners put the far basket a long way off.
The arena was built with an acoustical cloud of 160 rotating panels hung from the ceiling to hold the crowd noise in, so the upper bowl still feels part of a loud game.
Concerts
For end-stage shows, lower-bowl sections along the sides nearest the stage give the best angle; sections directly opposite the stage in the 300 level are the farthest seats in the building. Floor tickets are closest but flat, so shorter fans often see more from a raised seat in the 100s. Center-stage shows reward any sideline seat, since there is no back of the stage.
Theater of the Clouds
The Theater of the Clouds setup curtains off part of the arena, uses the western side and holds about 6,500. With the house cut down this far, almost every seat is in the lower bowl, which makes it one of the closer ways to see an arena-level act.
Demand and timing for Moda Center tickets
Blazers demand rises for visits from the league's marquee franchises and stars, for weekend and holiday-week games, and for any playoff run. Weeknight games against teams outside the playoff picture usually have the most inventory and the widest range of prices on the resale market.
Concert demand is set by the act. Floor and lower-bowl sideline seats move first; the 300 level and side-view sections tend to hold inventory longer. Listings often loosen in the final days before a show as sellers adjust, but popular dates can tighten instead, so waiting is a gamble rather than a rule.

Parking and MAX light rail to the Rose Quarter
Moda Center is one of the easier arenas in the country to reach without a car, and transit is often faster than parking after a sold-out game.
MAX light rail and bus
- Rose Quarter Transit Center: MAX Blue, Green and Red lines stop steps from the arena.
- Interstate/Rose Quarter station: the MAX Yellow line.
- Bus: TriMet routes 4, 8, 35, 44, 77 and 85 stop at the transit center.
Rose Quarter parking
The campus has more than 2,500 spaces across four garages and a surface lot:
- Garden Garage: 1,038 spaces, 6 ft 8 in clearance.
- East Broadway Garage: 533 spaces, 8 ft 2 in clearance.
- West Broadway Garage: 554 spaces, 8 ft 2 in clearance.
- Annex Garage: 350 spaces, 6 ft 8 in clearance.
- Benton Surface Lot: 92 spaces.
As of October 2026, the venue sells pre-paid parking for most events through its parking partner or at ticket checkout and warns that parking sells out often and early. Taller vans and trucks should avoid the Garden and Annex garages. Check the Rose Quarter parking page for current options before you go.
Rideshare
Rideshare pickup and drop-off is along NE Multnomah Street and NE Wheeler Avenue, outside the east entry.
Moda Center bag policy and entry rules (as of October 2026)
Moda Center does not use an NFL-style clear-bag policy. It uses size limits instead, and the limit depends on the event. As of October 2026, the posted rules are:
- Basketball (NBA and WNBA): bags no larger than 10 by 6 by 2 inches, about the size of a small wallet or clutch, and they go through secondary screening. Medical and childcare bags are allowed up to 14 by 14 by 6 inches.
- All other events: bags up to 14 by 14 by 6 inches.
- Bag check: listed by the venue, but prohibited items cannot be checked.
The basketball limit catches many visitors, since a standard purse or small backpack is too big. Plan to carry only a phone, card and keys to a Blazers or Fire game.
Other entry rules worth knowing:
- Mobile tickets only: tickets live in the Trail Blazers/Rose Quarter app, and screenshots are not accepted.
- Cash-free: cards and mobile pay only, with reverse ATMs that turn cash into a prepaid card.
- No re-entry for any event.
- No smoking or vaping anywhere on the campus.
Policies change, so check the venue's current guide before you go.
From the Rose Garden to Moda Center
The Trail Blazers played their first 25 seasons next door at Memorial Coliseum, which seated 12,888 and was sold out for every game from April 5, 1977 until the move. The new arena, designed by Ellerbe Becket, broke ground in July 1993 and opened as the Rose Garden on October 12, 1995, with the acoustical cloud designed to keep the old building's noise.
The arena has hosted the Western Conference Finals in 1999, 2000 and 2019, but not the NBA Finals. The Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League played there from 1995 to 2021. In 2024 the City of Portland bought the building from Paul Allen's estate, and the city and team have since worked on longer-term lease and renovation terms; details are still being settled, so expect changes to the building in the coming seasons.
