    What a city guide tells you

    A city guide answers the question an out-of-town fan asks first: what is on, where, and how hard is it to get there. The directory covers 16 cities: New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, Nashville, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, Denver, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Toronto and Seattle.

    Each guide follows the same plan. It lists the teams by league and the major venues, explains which buildings host which kinds of events, lays out the season calendar, covers getting around between venues, and adds a short note on the neighborhood around each major building. The individual venue and team guides then go deeper on seats and gameday logistics.

    Cities built around several venues

    Some cities are best understood as clusters of buildings, each with its own audience.

    Other cities center on one or two anchor buildings, such as AT&T Stadium in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia or the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, which also hosts the New Orleans Bowl.

    The live-event calendar, season by season

    The calendar shapes both availability and demand. Football runs from late summer into January, with the NFL regular season and playoffs and, from mid-December, the college bowl games. Major League Baseball fills spring through early fall, and the 2025 season drew 71,409,421 fans, the third straight year above 70 million (MLB). Arena sports, concert tours and family shows fill the colder months, while outdoor venues such as the Hollywood Bowl (June to September) and Red Rocks Amphitheatre peak in summer.

    A few fixed dates move whole cities: the Super Bowl (February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium), the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May, and the 2027 NFL Draft on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Holiday shows such as the Radio City Christmas Spectacular dominate December in New York. The city guides flag these peaks so you can plan around them, or toward them.

    Stadiums that sit outside the city name

    A city name on a ticket does not always mean a downtown building. Several venues are in neighboring cities or suburbs, which changes how you plan transit and where you stay.

    • The Giants and Jets play in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
    • The Rams and Chargers play in Inglewood, California.
    • The Cowboys play in Arlington, Texas, between Dallas and Fort Worth.
    • The Patriots play in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and the Dolphins in Miami Gardens.
    • The Commanders play in Landover, Maryland, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre is in Morrison, Colorado, about 10 miles from Denver.

    Each city guide explains the realistic options, whether that is a train line, a dedicated event shuttle or a long rideshare queue after the final whistle.

    Tips for planning an event trip

    Traveling to an event is common, not exotic. Sports ETA estimated that 109.7 million spectators traveled 50 miles or more to sporting events in 2024. On the music side, Luminate reports that music tourism is rising, because seeing an artist in another city can cost less than a hometown show (Luminate, Live Music 2026).

    • Book the room after the seat. Big events fill nearby hotels first, so confirm tickets before committing to a location.
    • Stay on the transit line, not just near the venue. A hotel on a direct rail route is often easier than one closer by road.
    • Check the venue's entry rules. Bag and mobile-ticket policies vary by building and change by season.
    • Look at the whole weekend. In New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Nashville, a game and a concert on consecutive nights is often possible.

    Smaller markets and college towns
