How the Fenway Park chart is organized
Fenway Park's seating chart is organized by named area rather than by a single number sequence, so the area name on a ticket tells you more than the section number. Close to the field are the box seats; behind and above them is the grandstand under the upper deck; on top sit the Aura Club, the Aura Pavilion and the roof decks; and the outfield holds the Green Monster seats and the bleachers. If you remember one rule, make it this: in the grandstand, choose a seat in the middle of the row.
Within any section, two seating guides agree that seat 1 sits on the right side as you face the field, with numbers rising to the left. That tells you where an aisle is: seat 1 and the highest seat in a row are the aisle ends, which is also where many grandstand support poles stand.
- Box seats: Dugout, Field, Loge and Right Field boxes on the lower level.
- Grandstand: the original-style wooden seats behind the boxes.
- Upper level: the Aura Club, Aura Pavilion, Dell Technologies Club, Right Field Roof Deck and Coca-Cola Corner.
- Outfield: the Green Monster seats on top of the left-field wall and the bleachers in center and right.
- Standing room: sold in designated areas around the park.
The box seats around the infield
The box seats are the padded seats closest to the field. Per the Red Sox, Dugout seating is sold on a season-ticket basis only, and Dugout seat holders have access to the private Ford Clubhouse, so most single-game buyers start with the Field Box and Loge Box.
- Field Box: the front sections of the lower bowl, closest to the field and free of the grandstand poles.
- Loge Box: directly behind the Field Box, still low and close to the infield.
- Right Field Box: continues the lower level down the right-field line and toward Pesky's Pole.
Box-seat rows are lettered rather than numbered; two seating guides cite doubled letters such as AA and EE. A cross-aisle walkway runs between the Field and Loge boxes, and one seating guide notes that the first Loge rows can be blocked by fans walking along it, recommending row EE or higher. One seating guide places the Red Sox dugout on the first-base side, so Field and Loge boxes between home plate and first base face the home team's bench.
The Right Field Box seats look close on the chart but are angled toward center field. For a full game, an infield Loge seat farther back beats a Right Field Box seat close to the corner.
The grandstand: where the poles and the family sections are
The grandstand wraps most of the park behind the box seats and sits under the upper deck. It is the classic Fenway seat: wooden, narrow and covered, so it stays drier and shadier than the boxes. It is also where the steel columns that hold up the upper deck stand.
Picking a grandstand seat
- Skip the aisle ends. Poles most often stand near seat 1 or the last seat of a row.
- Look past the first few rows. One seating guide finds poles commonly in the front rows and suggests avoiding rows 2 to 4.
- Favor the middle of the row, roughly seats 5 through 12 in a standard section, per the same guide.
- Believe the label. A listing marked obstructed view at Fenway usually means a column, not a railing.
Alcohol-free family sections
Per the Red Sox, the CVS Family Sections are Grandstand sections 32 and 33, sold first come, first served, with alcohol sales prohibited in those sections. One seating guide places them down the left-field line. They are the obvious pick for a family with young children who want the covered grandstand without beer traffic in the row.
The upper level: Aura Club, Aura Pavilion and the roof decks
The upper level is where Fenway's newer premium seating lives. Per the Red Sox, the Aura Club sits directly behind home plate on the fourth level, and the Aura Pavilion runs along the baselines on the fourth and fifth levels. The Dell Technologies Club is climate-controlled premium seating. These areas give a high, complete view of the field, including the corners that grandstand seats can miss.
- Aura Pavilion along the infield: the best balance of a full view and comfort on the upper level.
- Right Field Roof Deck and Roof Box: above right field, with a social, outdoor setting and a long view to home plate.
- Coca-Cola Corner: per one seating guide, three upper-level sections beneath the Coca-Cola sign in left field.
Upper-level seats along the baselines are generally open to the sky, so they take sun at day games. Seat counts per section are small up here, which makes it harder to find a large block of seats together.
Green Monster seats, bleachers and standing room
The Monster seats sit on top of the 37-foot left-field wall in sections labeled with an M on the chart, as two seating guides agree. The seats are barstools along a rail with standing room behind them, and the sections are small, so a group of four may be split across rows. The view is high and unusual: you look down on the left fielder and across the field, but plays at the base of the wall directly below you are hard to follow.
The bleachers fill center and right field and are among the deepest seating areas in the park. The lower bleacher rows are close to the outfielders; the upper rows are far from home plate and fully exposed to the sun.
Standing room is sold in several designated areas. One seating guide counts seven, including spots on the Monster, the Right Field Roof Deck and the Pavilion. A standing-room ticket is a good way in for a sold-out rivalry game if you are willing to stay on your feet; arrive early for a rail spot.
Concerts, football and hockey at Fenway
Fenway has staged summer concerts since 2003 and has hosted the NHL Winter Classic, college football and other events, and each uses its own map. For these events, the field becomes floor seating or a playing surface, and the open grandstand sections depend on the stage or field position.
- Concerts: seats facing the stage straight on usually beat closer seats at a hard side angle. Sections behind or beside the stage may be closed or sold as limited view.
- Football and hockey: the field or rink is set on the playing surface, so the best sections for baseball are not automatically the best for these events.
- Poles still matter: the grandstand columns block the same seats whatever the event.
For a non-baseball event, check the event-specific seating chart on the listing before you buy.
Accessible seating and entry at Fenway
Per the Red Sox, all gates around Fenway are accessible. Gate D has three elevators, and Gates B and E have one each. Fans holding grandstand wheelchair tickets are directed to enter through Gate D or E. The team's Accessible Services staff handles accessible seat purchases and can explain the Exceptional Fan Program.
Sensory kits and assisted listening devices are available at Fan Information booths, and family restrooms are spread through the park. Contact details and current policies are on the Red Sox ballpark guide. Confirm the entrance for your seat before game day, since Fenway's concourses are narrow and crowded close to first pitch.
Frequently asked questions
