What Anaheim's live-event scene covers
Anaheim is one of the few cities its size with two major league teams playing within sight of each other. The Los Angeles Angels play MLB baseball at Angel Stadium from March through September, and the Anaheim Ducks play NHL hockey at Honda Center from October through April. Between them sits ARTIC, a regional train station that makes both venues reachable without a car.
Beyond the teams, Honda Center books arena concerts and college basketball, the City National Grove of Anaheim and House of Blues handle mid-size shows, and the Anaheim Convention Center hosts large fan conventions across from the Disneyland Resort. Many visitors combine a game with a theme park trip, and the stadium district is a short drive or ride from the resort area.
- Teams: Los Angeles Angels (MLB), Anaheim Ducks (NHL).
- Big rooms: Angel Stadium (about 45,517), Honda Center (17,174 for hockey).
- Mid-size stages: City National Grove of Anaheim (about 1,700), House of Blues at Anaheim GardenWalk.
- Conventions and expos: Anaheim Convention Center.
Angel Stadium and Honda Center at a glance
Angel Stadium
Angel Stadium opened on April 19, 1966, at 2000 Gene Autry Way and seats about 45,517. Fans call it the Big A, after the giant A-shaped sign in the parking lot. The Los Angeles Rams also played there from 1980 to 1994. In February 2025 the Angels extended their lease through 2032.
Where to sit, briefly: the Angels' dugout is on the third-base side, the 200-level sections under the club overhang stay shaded, and upper-deck seats on the third-base side fall into shade earlier in the evening. Field-level seats near the outfield are a cheaper way to stay close to the action; the first rows beyond the wall are where home run balls land. Weekend games, giveaway nights and series against the Dodgers draw the biggest crowds.
Honda Center
Honda Center opened on June 17, 1993, at 2695 East Katella Avenue, first as the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. It seats 17,174 for hockey and 18,336 for basketball, and has been home to the Ducks since their first season. The LA Clippers played some home games there from 1994 to 1999. The arena hosts the Big West Conference basketball tournaments, has served as an NCAA West Regional site seven times and is slated for volleyball at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
For hockey, the 200-level Plaza sections at center ice give the best balance of view and closeness; the 300-level Club seats offer in-seat service in select sections. For concerts, the side sections nearest the stage beat the back of the floor.
OCVIBE and the Honda Center renovation
The land around Honda Center is being rebuilt as OCVIBE, a mixed-use entertainment district. As of fall 2026, this changes how a visit works, so plan ahead.
- New garages: The Katella and Cerritos parking garages opened on October 15, 2025, just before the 2025–26 Ducks season.
- Arena renovation: A privately funded renovation of Honda Center, estimated at 1.1 billion dollars, was scheduled to begin in spring 2026 after the Ducks' season and to finish by 2027, adding a new entrance, club spaces and suite upgrades.
- Phase One: A market hall with five restaurants, a 5,700-person amphitheater and an urban park are expected in early 2027.
- Road changes: Honda Center reports that Douglass Road between Katella Avenue and Stanley Cup Way is permanently closed, and it asks fans to arrive at least 60 minutes early during construction.
Entrances, lines and parking locations may shift during the work. Read the arena's Know Before You Go page the week of your event.
Concert halls, conventions and the resort area
- City National Grove of Anaheim: A music hall of about 1,700 capacity on the northwest corner of the Angel Stadium parking lot. It opened in 1998 and is operated by OCVIBE for the city. Its size means most spots in the room are close to the stage.
- House of Blues Anaheim: The club moved from Downtown Disney to Anaheim GardenWalk, across from Disneyland, after a 2016 announcement. It is convenient for resort-area visitors who do not want to drive.
- Anaheim Convention Center: At 800 West Katella Avenue, across from the Disneyland Resort, it is the largest convention center on the West Coast, at 1.8 million square feet. It hosts the NAMM Show, WonderCon, VidCon and Disney's D23 fan event, which has run on a two-year cycle since 2009.
Convention weeks matter even if you are only going to a game: when a big expo is in town, hotels near the resort fill and room rates jump. Check the convention calendar before booking.
The Anaheim calendar by season
- March and April: Angels Opening Day and the end of the Ducks' regular season overlap, so some nights both venues are busy.
- May to September: Angels baseball, summer concerts and the busiest theme park weeks.
- October to April: Ducks hockey. Games against the Los Angeles Kings, the Ducks' main rival, are the hottest regular-season tickets.
- March: The Big West basketball tournaments at Honda Center.
- Year-round: Concerts and comedy at Honda Center, the Grove and House of Blues, plus conventions.
Freeway traffic in Orange County peaks on weekday evenings, which coincides with 7 p.m. game times. Leaving early or taking the train is the best way to avoid missing the first pitch or puck drop.
Getting to the stadium district
The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), which opened on December 6, 2014, is the key. Metrolink's Orange County Line and Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner both stop there. Honda Center is directly across Katella Avenue, and Angel Stadium is a short walk west on the other side of the 57 freeway.
- Train: Check Metrolink and Amtrak schedules for late returns before you go, especially for night games and concerts, since service thins out late in the evening.
- Driving to Angel Stadium: Lots open well before gates, with entrances on Douglass Road, State College Boulevard and Orangewood Avenue. As of 2026, the stadium enforces a clear-bag policy; check the Angels ballpark guide.
- Driving to Honda Center: Use the new OCVIBE garages, which can be prepaid. As of the 2026–27 season, the arena enforces a very small bag limit.
- Rideshare: Angel Stadium's pickup zone is near Gate 1; Honda Center's is at ARTIC, 2626 East Katella Avenue.
Neighborhood notes and visitor tips
- Stadium district: Angel Stadium and Honda Center sit just off the 57 freeway, with more restaurants arriving as OCVIBE opens. For now, many fans eat in the stadium or at the Grove before a show.
- Resort area: Hotels near the Disneyland Resort and the Convention Center put House of Blues and GardenWalk within walking distance and the stadium district a short drive away.
- Combining with Los Angeles: If you are also seeing a game in Los Angeles, Metrolink and the Pacific Surfliner run between ARTIC and Union Station.
Before buying, compare the seat map with the venue's own chart, since Honda Center's renovation may change some premium areas. Every order on this site is backed by a 100% guarantee. Policies on bags, mobile tickets and re-entry change often; check each venue's current rules before you go.
