Who Justin Timberlake is

Justin Timberlake is a Memphis-born pop and R&B singer, songwriter, dancer and actor who has headlined arena tours for more than two decades. Born on January 31, 1981, he was a cast member of Disney Channel's The All New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993 to 1995, then became one of the two lead singers of NSYNC, one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.

His solo albums map his touring eras:

  • Justified (2002): his solo debut, with "Cry Me a River."
  • FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006): his first No. 1 album, with the Hot 100 chart-toppers "SexyBack," "My Love" and "What Goes Around... Comes Around."
  • The 20/20 Experience and 2 of 2 (2013): the first was the best-selling album of 2013 in the United States.
  • Man of the Woods (2018) and Everything I Thought It Was (2024).

He has won ten Grammy Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards, and his chart-topping single from the 2016 animated film Trolls earned him an Academy Award nomination. He has headlined the Super Bowl halftime show (Super Bowl LII in 2018) and appeared at two others, with NSYNC in 2001 and alongside Janet Jackson in 2004.

What a Justin Timberlake concert is like

A Timberlake show is a band-and-dance show. Since the 2013 tours he has performed with the Tennessee Kids, a large multi-instrumentalist backing band that Wikipedia describes as a 15-piece throwback to big-band music, plus dancers and choreography that run through most of the set. The music is played live and arranged with horns and backing vocals, so the songs often sound fuller than the records.

His recent productions have pushed the stage into the crowd. On the Forget Tomorrow World Tour (2024–2025), he and the band walked through the audience to a smaller B stage (a secondary stage away from the main one) at the back of the arena floor for an eight-song segment, and the closing song was performed on a raised, rotating platform. The Man of the Woods Tour (2018–2019) used a stage layout based on floodplain maps of the Mississippi River through Memphis, with a bar area and dance floor built into the floor. Both designs mean the "back" of the arena gets a close-up moment that end-stage tours do not offer.

The audience is a broad mix: fans who grew up with NSYNC, fans of the FutureSex/LoveSounds era and younger listeners who know him from the Trolls films. Expect a crowd that stands for the hits and sits for some mid-tempo songs.

Justin Timberlake's tours, dated

The runs below are documented in the sources for this page. Any dates on sale now appear in the live event list.

  • Justified and Stripped Tour (summer 2003): a co-headlining tour with Christina Aguilera.
  • FutureSex/LoveShow (2007): according to Billboard, the third highest-grossing tour of 2007 and the highest-grossing by a solo artist.
  • Legends of the Summer (2013): a stadium tour co-headlined with Jay-Z.
  • The 20/20 Experience World Tour (2013–2015): the highest-grossing tour led by a solo artist in 2014. Its final show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas became the Jonathan Demme concert film Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids.
  • The Man of the Woods Tour (March 13, 2018, to April 13, 2019): 115 shows, mostly in arenas, grossing about 226 million dollars. Late-2018 dates were postponed after he bruised his vocal cords.
  • The Forget Tomorrow World Tour (April 29, 2024, to February 24, 2025): arenas in North America and Europe, from Vancouver to Saint Paul, followed by a JT Live 2025 extension of festival and outdoor dates from March to July 2025. Wikipedia counts 121 shows in all and reports about 205 million dollars grossed from 94 main-tour shows. Several dates were rescheduled for illness or a back injury.

At the end of that tour in July 2025, he said he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Any future touring plans should be checked against official announcements and the live event list on this page.

Where to sit for a Timberlake show

Because his recent tours have used a main stage plus a B stage, the best seat is not always the closest one to the main stage. Check the seating map for your date, since staging can differ between tours and venues.

Floor

Front-floor seats or standing spots put you closest to the main stage and the choreography. The rear floor is a better value than it looks on tours with a B stage at the back, since that segment brings him within a few rows of fans who paid less for the main-stage view. On a seated floor, the view from mid-floor can be blocked by people standing in front, so a raised seat often sees more.

Lower bowl

Side sections in the 100 level (the lower ring of seats around the floor), close to the main stage, are the best all-around choice for a dance-heavy show: you see the formations, the band and the screens, and you are higher than the floor crowd. Lower-bowl sections near the back of the arena are strong picks on B-stage tours.

Upper level

The upper level works for this show because the choreography reads well from above and the screens fill in the detail. Avoid seats directly behind the main stage unless the listing says they have a view; on an end-stage layout, those seats see mostly the back of the production.

How demand for his tickets behaves

Timberlake's tours sell quickly at launch. In March 2024, Complex reported that the Forget Tomorrow World Tour had already taken in more than 140 million dollars in initial ticket sales across more than 70 dates, and Pollstar reported in May 2024 that nine shows were added because of demand, with over one million tickets sold.

  • Presales set the tone. Fan-club, artist and card-member presales usually come before the general public on-sale, and most premium seats go in that window.
  • Added shows add supply. When a second night is announced in a city, resale prices for the first night often ease.
  • Weekend and big-market dates run higher. Friday and Saturday shows in large markets usually command more than weeknights.
  • Rescheduled dates create resale movement. When a show moves, some holders resell, which can open up better seats.

GoodSeats sells mostly resale inventory, so prices can be above or below face value; every order includes guaranteed entry.
