Uptown Charlotte's Stadium for the Panthers and Charlotte FC

Bank of America Stadium is the open-air stadium at 800 South Mint Street in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, opened on August 3, 1996. It is home to the Carolina Panthers (NFL) and, since 2022, Charlotte FC (MLS). It also hosts the ACC Championship Game, the Duke's Mayo Bowl, international soccer and stadium concerts. Its listed capacity is 75,037 as of 2025, though the number has changed many times through renovations. The short answer on seats: upper rows of the lower-level sidelines and the 300-level club seats are the best views, and the sideline 500 level is the value buy, but on an early-season afternoon the shaded west side matters as much as the yard line.

The stadium sits on the southwest edge of uptown, within walking distance of hotels, restaurants and the LYNX light rail. Six bronze panther statues guard the entrances, and the field has been artificial turf since 2021.

Bank of America Stadium Seating Chart by Level

The seating bowl has three public levels, with suites tucked between them. Section ranges below come from seat-view databases and seating guides; the stadium's own map shows the same three tiers.

  • 100 level, sections 101–140: the lower bowl, about 19 rows deep with no overhead cover. One seating guide extends the numbering to 151, so match the section on your listing to the map.
  • 300 level, clubs in sections 308–323 and 336–351: the club seats on each sideline, with wider padded seats and access to climate-controlled lounges. Suite and club spaces fill the 300 and 400 levels behind them.
  • 500 level, sections 501–554: the upper deck, about 34 rows deep. The sideline stretch runs roughly from 516 to 534 on one side, with matching sections across the field.

For football, one seating guide places the Panthers' bench in front of sections 129–134 and the visitors' bench in front of sections 109–114. Benches can be reassigned, so treat that as a guide, not a guarantee.

Best Seats for Panthers Games, Soccer and Concerts

Panthers football

The lower-level sidelines between the 20-yard lines are the premium seats, but row matters more than section. In a bowl only about 19 rows deep, players and staff on the sideline block the field from the lowest rows, so seating guides recommend the upper half of the section. The 300-level club seats are the comfort pick: they are high enough to see formations, and the lounges are a real advantage in December. The sideline 500s, roughly 516–534 and the matching sections opposite, give a full overhead view at a fraction of the lower-level premium. Seating guides report that visiting fans tend to cluster in the upper end-zone sections.

Charlotte FC

Most Charlotte FC matches use only the lower bowl and club level, capping attendance at about 38,000. Sideline seats near midfield in the 100 level are the best views.

Concerts

Stadium shows usually place the stage at one end, which closes the sections behind it and adds floor seating. Side sections of the 100 level nearest the stage and the 300-level clubs are the strongest reserved seats. A record 82,193 attended the Concert for Carolina, a Hurricane Helene benefit, on October 26, 2024.

Sun, Shade and Seats to Avoid at Bank of America Stadium

  • The east side in September and October. Seating guides note that the east side takes more sun, and the 500-level sections from about 515 to 530 get the most. For a 1 p.m. kickoff, that can be three hours of direct sun.
  • The west side is the shade side. The west upper deck and the west lower sidelines fall into shade as the afternoon goes on. In November and December, the trade-off reverses, and some fans prefer the sunny side for warmth.
  • The lowest rows of the 100-level sidelines. They feel close but sit below the players and staff on the sideline. Pay for a higher row.
  • Rain exposure. The 100 level has no cover. Bring a poncho rather than an umbrella, which is on the prohibited list.
  • The top rows of the 500-level end zones. They are the cheapest seats for a reason; the far end of the field is a long way off.

Parking, Light Rail and Rideshare in Uptown

Parking. The stadium lists more than 30,000 parking spaces within a 10- to 15-minute walk. As of the 2026 season, spots can be reserved in advance through SpotHero or Ticketmaster. Lots closest to the stadium sell out first for Panthers games, so book early for any Sunday kickoff. Rates change by event; check the stadium's current parking page before you go.

Tailgating. Rules posted by the stadium require open-flame cooking to stay 25 feet from buildings and 10 feet from vehicles, prohibit charcoal grills in stadium-operated lots and ban cooking in parking decks. Private lots set their own rules.

Light rail and streetcar. The LYNX Blue Line stops at Brooklyn Village station, near the stadium, and its park-and-ride lots are a good way to skip uptown traffic. The CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar serves uptown as well.

Rideshare. The stadium designates two pickup and drop-off zones: College Street between 3rd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and Mint Street near the I-277 interchange south of the stadium. Accessible drop-off is at the corner of Mint and Morehead Streets.

Bank of America Stadium Clear-Bag Policy (2026 Season)

As of the 2026 season, Bank of America Stadium enforces a clear-bag policy (bags must be transparent plastic, vinyl or PVC and no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches). Small purses, clutches or fanny packs no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches are also allowed. Containers for medical necessities need advance approval from stadium security. The stadium encourages fans to bring no bag at all for faster entry. Read the current clear-bag policy before you go.

  • Gates: normally open two hours before kickoff.
  • Tickets: mobile tickets through the Panthers app or Ticketmaster.
  • Water: two sealed, unflavored 16.9-ounce water bottles per person are allowed. Other outside food and drink, coolers, umbrellas and strollers are not.
  • Smoking: prohibited everywhere inside, including vaping and e-cigarettes.
  • Families: nursing rooms are near sections 119, 129, 313, 525 and 548.

Panthers tickets bought through GoodSeats include guaranteed entry.

Ericsson Stadium to Bank of America Stadium

Ground was broken on April 22, 1994, and the stadium opened in 1996 as Ericsson Stadium, after the Panthers spent their first season at Clemson. It cost about 500 million dollars and was designed by Wagner Murray Architects with HOK Sport (now Populous). Bank of America bought the naming rights in 2004. David Tepper bought the Panthers in 2018, and his Tepper Sports & Entertainment now owns and operates the stadium.

The building has been renovated in phases, including new end-zone video boards measuring 200 by 56 feet as part of work from 2014 to 2017. The original Bermuda grass gave way to FieldTurf in 2021, the year before Charlotte FC arrived. The stadium has hosted the Duke's Mayo Bowl since 2002 and the ACC Championship Game in most years since 2010. A renovation of roughly 800 million dollars is planned to run from 2026 to 2029, so expect some construction-related changes during that period. Schedules and stadium updates are on the official stadium site.
