The Rockies' ballpark in Lower Downtown Denver
Coors Field is the open-air home of the Colorado Rockies, a 46,897-seat ballpark at 2001 Blake Street in Denver's Lower Downtown (LoDo) neighborhood, two blocks from Union Station. With standing room the count rises to 50,144. It opened on April 26, 1995, and at about 5,200 feet above sea level the Rockies store game balls in a humidor (a climate-controlled room that keeps balls from drying out and carrying farther).
The questions that matter most here are sun, elevation and how far out you want to sit. The park faces north, so the third-base side is the shade side.
- Rockies games: the MLB regular season runs late March or early April through late September, with October games when the team qualifies.
- Other events: All-Star Games in 1998 and 2021, World Series games in 2007, the 2016 NHL Stadium Series, and summer concerts.
Seating chart and layout: three decks, the Rockpile and the Rooftop
The seating layout is a three-tier grandstand that runs from the left-field foul pole around home plate to the right-field foul pole and wraps into right-center field. Section numbers follow the deck.
- 100 level (field level): section 130 sits behind home plate. Infield sections run from about row 4 or 5 at the front to row 38, with lettered rows behind. Seating guides place the Rockies dugout behind sections 121 to 125 and the visitors dugout behind sections 136 to 140. Outfield field-level sections run into the 150s and 160s.
- 200 level (club level): more than 4,400 club seats, plus premium spaces such as the Mountain Ranch Club along the right-field line.
- 300 level (upper deck): the top tier. The row of purple seats in the 20th row of the upper deck marks exactly one mile above sea level.
- The Rockpile: about 2,300 bleacher seats in center field, behind the batter's eye, roughly 600 feet from home plate. Sections numbered in the 400s sit out here.
- The Rooftop: a 46,000-square-foot, two-level party deck in the right-field upper deck, added in 2014 in place of upper-deck seats.
Section numbers are drawn from seating guides; confirm them against the listing's seat map before you buy.
Best seats at Coors Field, and the ones to avoid
- Best overall view: sections 128 to 135 behind home plate. In section 130, rows 35 and up are shaded for most day games by the club level overhead.
- Best for shade: the third-base side for evening games, and the back rows of 128 to 135 and upper sections 330 to 335 for a 1:10 start.
- Best value: the upper deck behind home plate, where the purple row puts you at a mile high and the Front Range sits beyond the outfield. Seats above the purple row tend to cost less than the club level for a similar angle.
- Best on a budget: the Rockpile, which sells a limited number of low-cost seats on game day and some in advance.
- Best for a social night: the Rooftop, where most fans stand, eat and watch from the rail rather than sit.
Seats to think twice about: outfield sections 151 to 160 and center-field sections 401 to 403 take full sun at afternoon games, and the high-altitude sun is stronger than many visitors expect. In infield field-level sections, rows above about 32 sit under the club-level overhang; that is welcome on a hot day, but it cuts the view of high fly balls. Netting runs in front of roughly sections 122 to 139.
Getting there: Union Station, light rail and parking
Transit: Union Station is two blocks away and is served by RTD light rail and commuter rail. RTD buses also stop nearby, and three light rail stations are within walking distance. For visitors staying downtown, walking is usually faster than driving.
Parking: the Rockies operate Lots A and B next to the ballpark. As of the 2026 season, those lots take credit cards only, no cash, and passes can be bought online, by phone, at Dugout Stores or at the lot entrance. Dozens of private lots in LoDo also sell event parking, and prices rise as first pitch nears. Check the team's parking page for the current setup.
Rideshare: LoDo streets close up quickly after a game; walking a few blocks toward Union Station before calling a car is the common workaround.
Gates and bag policy (as of the 2026 season)
As of the 2026 season, Coors Field allows soft-sided, single-pocket bags no larger than 16 by 16 by 8 inches. Backpacks and multi-pocket bags are not allowed. Outside alcohol is prohibited. Re-entry is not permitted, so bring what you need on the first trip in.
The park has five gates, each tied to a nearby section:
- Gate A near section 105 and Gate E near section 147, which open two hours before first pitch for batting practice;
- Gates B (section 111), C (section 122) and D (section 130), which open 90 minutes before.
Check the Rockies ballpark guide for current rules before you go.
Food, the humidor and a short history
Concessions are mostly cashless, with a few stands that accept cash near sections 109, 134, 306 and 327. The Rooftop's barbecue and bars near section 302 draw the biggest pregame crowds, and the Sandlot Brewery behind right field brews beer on site.
Construction began on October 16, 1992, and HOK Sport (now Populous) designed the ballpark. Its fences are deep (347 feet to left, 415 to center, 350 to right), and the humidor arrived before the 2002 season. Coors Field hosted the 1998 All-Star Game before a record 51,267 fans and the 2007 World Series, the Rockies' only pennant season. Every order through GoodSeats is backed by a 100% guarantee.
