Upcoming events in Denver

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

What Denver's live-event scene covers

Denver has teams in all five major leagues, and its arena, ballpark and football stadium all sit close to downtown on or near the light-rail lines, which makes it one of the easier cities in the country to do a multi-event trip without a car. The headline exception is Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the open-air concert venue in the foothills about 10 miles southwest of the city, which in 2021 ranked as the top-grossing and most-attended venue of any size, according to Wikipedia.

  • NFL: the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High (capacity 76,125), just west of downtown. The franchise has won three Super Bowls and reports selling out essentially every home game since 1970.
  • NBA: the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena. Founded in 1967, the Nuggets won their first NBA title in June 2023, beating the Miami Heat four games to one.
  • NHL: the Colorado Avalanche, also at Ball Arena. After moving from Quebec in 1995, they won the Stanley Cup in their first Denver season (1995–96), then again in 2000–01 and 2021–22.
  • MLB: the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Lower Downtown (LoDo), which opened in 1995 and seats 50,144.
  • MLS: the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (19,680 seats) in Commerce City, about 8 miles north of downtown. The Rapids won MLS Cup in 2010.
  • Lacrosse: the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League also play at Ball Arena.

Denver's concert scene: Red Rocks and the indoor rooms

Searches for concerts in Denver split between Red Rocks in summer and a strong set of indoor halls the rest of the year.

  • Red Rocks Amphitheatre: a 9,525-capacity amphitheater set between giant sandstone formations near Morrison, owned and operated by the City and County of Denver. Seating is on wooden benches in rows, and the concert season runs roughly March through November. It is fully exposed to sun, wind, rain and occasional snow.
  • Ball Arena: the arena for major tours, with a concert capacity of about 21,000, at the edge of downtown.
  • Empower Field at Mile High and Coors Field: summer stadium tours.
  • Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre: the largest outdoor amphitheater in the metro area, with room for 18,000 (about 7,500 fixed seats plus a general-admission lawn), in Greenwood Village in the south suburbs. Its season runs May through September.
  • Mission Ballroom: an AEG Presents hall at 4242 Wynkoop Street in the RiNo (River North Art District) neighborhood, one of the city's main rooms for mid-size tours.
  • Fillmore Auditorium: a club venue on Clarkson Street just off Colfax Avenue.

For Red Rocks, the row matters less than the location: center sections give the classic view of the stage framed by rock, while the far sides look across at an angle. The upper rows sit well above the stage, but on a clear evening they look out over the plains toward Denver. If you are searching for concerts tonight, Mission Ballroom, the Fillmore and Ball Arena carry the most frequent dates outside Red Rocks season.

Comedy shows in Denver

Denver's comedy scene centers on a single club brand with two rooms, plus theaters for touring names.

  • Comedy Works Downtown: at 1226 15th Street in Larimer Square, presenting stand-up since 1981. It is the room most locals mean when they talk about comedy in Denver, and its downtown location makes it easy to pair with dinner on Larimer Street.
  • Comedy Works South: at 5345 Landmark Place in Greenwood Village, in the south suburbs near the Denver Tech Center. A restaurant upstairs offers a dinner package that includes preferred seating near the front of the showroom.
  • Theaters: the Buell Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, a 2,884-seat house, books comedy acts along with musicals and concerts. Arena-level comedians play Ball Arena.

Weekend headliners at both Comedy Works rooms tend to sell first. If you are staying downtown, the Larimer Square club is a short walk from most hotels; the South club is the better pick if your trip centers on Fiddler's Green or the Tech Center. Check the Comedy Works site for each room's age and seating policy before you buy.

Broadway and the Denver Performing Arts Complex

The Denver Performing Arts Complex covers four downtown blocks with ten performance spaces and more than 10,000 seats under an 80-foot glass roof. Touring Broadway productions from Denver Center Broadway play the Buell Theatre, while the Ellie Caulkins Opera House (2,225 seats) and Boettcher Concert Hall (2,679 seats) host Opera Colorado, Colorado Ballet and the Colorado Symphony. The complex also houses the Denver Center Theatre Company in the smaller Helen Bonfils Theatre Complex. Holiday-season runs and weekend evenings are the toughest tickets.

The Denver event calendar

  • Spring (March to May): Red Rocks opens its season, the Rockies start at Coors Field, and the Nuggets and Avalanche finish their regular seasons with possible playoff dates. Spring snowstorms can still hit, so outdoor shows early in the season can be cold.
  • Summer (June to August): the peak of concert season, with Red Rocks booked most nights, Fiddler's Green and stadium tours, plus baseball nearly every day.
  • Fall (September to November): Broncos home games, the last Red Rocks shows, and the return of the Nuggets and Avalanche.
  • Winter (December to February): NBA and NHL midseason at Ball Arena, possible Broncos playoff games, and holiday shows at the Performing Arts Complex.

Red Rocks demand peaks for summer weekends and multi-night runs by bands with loyal followings, and those dates often sell out early. Broncos games against AFC West rivals (Kansas City, Las Vegas and Los Angeles) draw the most interest at Mile High.

Getting around to the venues

  • From the airport: the RTD A Line commuter train runs from Denver International Airport to Union Station downtown, a practical first leg for any trip.
  • Coors Field: two blocks from Union Station, walkable from most downtown hotels.
  • Ball Arena: the Ball Arena/Elitch Gardens light-rail stop serves the D, E, H and W lines, and the free 16th Street MallRide connects to Union Station.
  • Empower Field at Mile High: the E and W light-rail lines stop at Empower Field at Mile High Station, about an eight-minute walk from the stadium.
  • Red Rocks: no regular transit. Most fans drive, and parking is included in the ticket price for most shows; overflow parking can mean a long uphill walk, and rideshare pickup after shows is at a separate lot. Complimentary shuttles run between some lots during arrival.
  • Fiddler's Green and Comedy Works South: in Greenwood Village, best reached by car or rideshare.
  • Dick's Sporting Goods Park: in Commerce City; plan on driving.

Red Rocks' getting-here page lists current lots, shuttles and rideshare zones.

Neighborhoods and visitor tips

  • LoDo and Union Station (Coors Field): the best all-around base, with restaurants, bars and hotels near the ballpark and rail connections to the airport, Ball Arena and Mile High.
  • Larimer Square and downtown (Comedy Works, Performing Arts Complex): walkable dining and a direct pairing for a show night.
  • RiNo (Mission Ballroom): breweries, restaurants and street art around the venue, a short rideshare from downtown.
  • Morrison (Red Rocks): the small town beside the park; most fans stay in Denver or the western suburbs and drive in.

A few practical points:

  • Altitude: Denver sits about a mile above sea level, and Red Rocks is higher. Drink water, go easy on alcohol, and allow time for the steep stairs at Red Rocks.
  • Weather: bring layers for Red Rocks even in summer, since evenings cool off quickly and storms roll through.
  • Bags: as of 2026, Ball Arena does not allow general bags, Empower Field uses a clear-bag policy, and Red Rocks allows small single-pocket bags. Check the venue's current policy before you go.
  • Buying: every GoodSeats order includes guaranteed entry, which helps most on sold-out Red Rocks nights.
