Levi's Stadium capacity and what plays here
Levi's Stadium is the San Francisco 49ers' open-air stadium in Santa Clara, in the heart of Silicon Valley, and it seats 68,500, expandable to about 75,000 for major events. It opened in 2014. The record crowd is 80,058, set at an Ed Sheeran concert on September 16, 2023.
- 49ers football: the NFL regular season runs September into early January.
- Super Bowls: Super Bowl 50 in February 2016 and Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026.
- Soccer: six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, played at a listed capacity of 68,827.
- Concerts and special events: summer stadium tours, college football and WrestleMania 31 in 2015.
The Levi's Stadium seating chart, side by side
Levi's Stadium is lopsided by design, and knowing that makes the seating chart easy to read. About two-thirds of the seats are in the lower bowl. Most of the suites and the single upper deck rise on the west side in the SAP Tower, while the east side is a broad, open bank of seats.
- 100 level: the lower bowl, which wraps the field. Sections run from 101 near Xfinity Gate A around to 146, with Toyota Gate F near sections 105–106 and Sutter Health Gate C near sections 129–130.
- 200 level: club seating. The SAP Tower houses the Cache Creek Field Club, the United Club and the Graton Resort and Casino Winners Club; other clubs include the East Field Club, the SHARP Club and the Levi's 501 Club.
- 300 level: the upper concourse and upper seats, numbered in the 300s.
The stadium's published guides do not show which bench is on which side, so check the event-specific map at checkout if sitting behind the 49ers' bench matters to you.
Best seats at Levi's Stadium, and the sun problem
The east side of the stadium has no overhang, and during afternoon games it sits in full sun. In the stadium's early seasons, several fans were treated for heat exhaustion at hot preseason and early-season games, and large parts of the east stands emptied on the hottest days. Height limits tied to nearby San Jose airport prevent adding cover.
- For a September or October day game: sit on the west side, the tower side, which avoids the direct exposure of the open east stands.
- For night games and December games: the sun stops mattering, and east-side seats often become the better value.
- Best overall view: the middle rows of the 100 level between the 20-yard lines. Because the lower bowl is so large, its upper rows still feel close.
- Best for comfort: the 200-level club seats, which include indoor club access between quarters.
- Think twice about: the 300 level on hot afternoons if you are not on the shaded side, and low end-zone rows, where it is hard to judge play at the far end.
Free sunscreen is available at Guest Services stations throughout the stadium. For concerts and World Cup soccer, the floor and stage layout differ from football, so use the event map. Every GoodSeats order is backed by a 100% guarantee.
Levi's Stadium parking, light rail and tailgating
Parking at Levi's Stadium is easiest with a prepaid pass. As of the 2026 season, the stadium sells event parking in advance through Ticketmaster and warns that credit-card lots on event day are limited and may cost more than prepaid passes.
- Accessible parking: located in Red Lot 1, with mobility shuttles from Blue Lot 1 and Pink Lots 4, 5 and 8.
- Bike valet: free, operated for events; the stadium's own pages list it at Red Lot 1 and Green Lot 1 and near Gates A and C, so confirm the location for your event.
- Rideshare: designated pickup and drop-off zones are posted on the stadium's site for each event.
Transit
- VTA light rail: the most direct option, with trains stopping at the Great America station on the stadium's north side.
- Caltrain: ride to Mountain View and transfer to the VTA Orange Line.
- ACE and Capitol Corridor: regional trains to the Santa Clara–Great America station, with ACE service for 49ers home games.
- VTA bus: stops at Tasman Drive and Great America Parkway.
Tailgating is limited to your lined parking space, canopies may not exceed 8 by 8 feet, glass is banned in every lot, amplified sound is prohibited, and tailgating ends after kickoff. See the stadium's transit page for schedules.
Levi's Stadium bag policy and entry rules

Green design and amenities
Levi's Stadium was the first U.S. professional football stadium to earn LEED Gold certification. It has solar panels, a green roof and the Faithful Farm, a rooftop garden that grows produce. The 49ers Museum is on site, and phone charging stations are in the main Team Store, the United Club and at sections 117 and 308.
Levi's Stadium history
The stadium opened on July 14, 2014, replacing Candlestick Park as the 49ers' home. It is owned by the Santa Clara Stadium Authority and operated by the team, and Levi Strauss and Co. bought the naming rights in 2013 under a 20-year agreement. The early seasons were marked by persistent problems with the natural grass field.
- Super Bowls: Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016, and Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026.
- College football: the Pac-12 Championship Game from 2014 to 2019, a December bowl game from 2014 to 2019 and the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship.
- Wrestling: WrestleMania 31 on March 29, 2015.
