Who Heart is and what kind of show you are buying
Heart is the American rock band led by sisters Ann Wilson (lead vocals) and Nancy Wilson (guitar and vocals), formed in the Pacific Northwest and long associated with Seattle. A ticket buys a classic rock show that runs from the hard-rock songs of the 1970s, such as "Barracuda" and "Crazy on You," to the 1980s power ballads "These Dreams" and "Alone." The band plays arenas and amphitheaters, often on shared bills, and a raised seat facing the stage is usually the best way to take in both sisters.
The group grew out of earlier Seattle-area bands in the late 1960s and early 1970s and took the name Heart in 1973. Ann Wilson joined in the early 1970s and Nancy in 1974, and the band developed in Vancouver, British Columbia, where it recorded its debut, Dreamboat Annie, released in 1975. Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, and its Hall of Fame page credits the Wilsons as the first women to front a hard-rock band.
The hits that shape a Heart setlist
Heart has two distinct eras of hits, and a typical set draws on both.
- The 1970s rock era: "Magic Man" (No. 9) and "Crazy on You" (1976), both from Dreamboat Annie, and "Barracuda" (No. 11) from Little Queen (1977).
- The 1980s comeback: the self-titled Heart (1985) reached No. 1 and sold five million copies, with "These Dreams" at No. 1 and "Never" at No. 4. "Alone," from Bad Animals (1987), spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
- 1990 and after: "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You" reached No. 2. Later albums include Red Velvet Car (2010), Fanatic (2012) and Beautiful Broken (2016).
The band has sold more than 35 million records and placed top-ten albums on the Billboard charts in four decades, a record for a female-fronted band. Ann and Nancy Wilson received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, and their 2012 Kennedy Center Honors performance of "Stairway to Heaven" for Led Zeppelin remains one of their most widely seen moments.
Heart on tour: hiatuses, reunions and shared bills
Heart's touring history includes long breaks, so it pays to know the recent pattern. Current dates appear in the live event list on this page.
- Co-headlining runs: a 2008 US tour with Journey and Cheap Trick, a 2011 summer tour co-headlining with Def Leppard, and the 2016 Rock Hall Three for All, a 30-date tour with Joan Jett and Cheap Trick.
- Hiatus (late 2016 to 2019): after the 2016 tour the sisters toured with separate projects.
- Love Alive Tour (2019): announced in February 2019 and extended through October.
- Return (December 2023): two California shows and a New Year's Eve concert in Seattle, the band's first in four years, followed by an intermission set at the 2024 NHL Winter Classic in Seattle.
- Royal Flush Tour (2024): announced January 29, 2024, with several dates alongside Cheap Trick, Def Leppard, Journey and Squeeze. The summer 2024 UK and European dates were canceled after Ann Wilson's medical treatment, and the band resumed touring North America in 2025.
In August 2026, Nancy Wilson said a new studio album was nearly finished and that a world tour was planned; treat that as an announcement of intent until dates are published.
What a Heart concert is like now
The show centers on Ann Wilson's voice, which carries the big ballads and the harder rock songs alike, and on Nancy Wilson's guitar work. Since 2023 the Wilsons have toured with a band that includes guitarists Ryan Waters and Ryan Wariner, keyboardist and guitarist Paul Moak, bassist Tony Lucido and drummer Sean T. Lane.
Heart often shares the bill with other classic rock acts, so check whether a given date is a headline set or a co-bill. On a co-bill, set lengths can be shorter, and the crowd may be split between two fan bases, which affects how early the room fills.
Where to sit for a Heart show
Heart plays mostly arenas and amphitheaters. Check the seating map on each event for the stage layout and whether the floor is reserved.
Arenas
- Floor: floors for this kind of show are often reserved seating rather than standing; check the listing. The front rows are the most expensive tickets in the room; toward the back, a flat floor offers less view than the lower bowl.
- Lower bowl facing the stage: the best balance of view and sound for this band. The raised angle shows both sisters and the full stage, and the mix is strongest near the soundboard.
- Lower-bowl sides close to the stage: good for watching Nancy Wilson's guitar playing up close, but extreme side angles lose part of the stage.
- Upper level: the value tier. Center sections facing the stage are worth paying slightly more for than corners.
Amphitheaters
Reserved pavilion seats are worth the premium over the lawn (general-admission grass seating at the back) for a vocal-led show like this one. The lawn is a relaxed, lower-cost option on a warm night, but the stage looks small from there.
How demand for Heart tickets behaves
Heart's audience spans fans who saw the band in the 1970s and 1980s and younger listeners who found "Barracuda" and "Alone" later. A few structural patterns help:
- Scarcity drives demand. After long breaks between tours, announced dates tend to draw strong early interest.
- Co-bills widen the audience. Shows shared with other major classic rock acts often sell faster than solo dates.
- Pacific Northwest shows run hot. Seattle-area dates carry hometown weight.
- Presales carry the front rows. Fan-club and venue presales usually open before the general on-sale.
Resale prices can sit above or below face value and usually move as the show approaches. Every GoodSeats order is backed by a 100% guarantee. For announcements from the band, see Heart's official site.
