Who The 1975 are and what kind of show you are buying
The 1975 is an English band formed in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in 2002: Matty Healy on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Adam Hann on lead guitar, Ross MacDonald on bass and George Daniel on drums. A ticket buys a pop-rock and synth-pop show that, since 2022, has been staged as a piece of theater, with a built set, a scripted first act and a conventional hits set after it. The band plays arenas and festival headline slots, and its tours are infrequent enough that each one draws heavy demand.
All five of the band's studio albums have reached No. 1 in the UK, from The 1975 (2013) through Being Funny in a Foreign Language (2022). The second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (2016), also topped the US Billboard 200. The band records for Dirty Hit, has won four Brit Awards, including British Album of the Year in 2019 for A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships, and has two Mercury Prize nominations.
Inside the house: how the band stages its shows
The At Their Very Best tour, which opened in November 2022, replaced a standard rock stage with a suburban house interior designed by Tobias Rylander: antique furniture, bedside lamps, old televisions fitted with LED screens, a spiral staircase, a freestanding door frame and a roof section under a streetlamp where Healy sang several songs. Rylander cited Stanley Kubrick as an influence.
The show ran in two parts. The first half played the Being Funny in a Foreign Language album as performance art, with theatrical and cinematic staging. The second half, billed as "At Their Very Best," was a traditional concert of the band's catalog. Rolling Stone called it a defining blueprint for arena shows.
The follow-up tour, Still... At Their Very Best, kept the house set and added a large LED screen behind the main stage and a small B-stage (a secondary platform away from the main stage) built to look like a square patch of grass. Fans who want to see the staging as designed should weigh that layout when choosing seats.
Tours and landmark shows
The tours below are documented in this page's sources. Current dates, if any, appear in the live event list.
- Music for Cars Tour (2018 to 2020): supported A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships and Notes on a Conditional Form.
- At Their Very Best (November 3, 2022 to August 16, 2023): 93 shows across seven legs on five continents, including a sold-out Madison Square Garden show on November 7, 2022, that was livestreamed and later released on Amazon Prime Video, and The O2 in London on January 12, 2023. In July 2023, Malaysian authorities ended the band's Good Vibes Festival set early, and the band then canceled its Jakarta and Taipei dates.
- Still... At Their Very Best (September 16, 2023 to March 24, 2024): 60 shows across North America and Europe, described as the band's biggest North American arena run, with stops at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl and four carbon-removed shows at The O2. It ended in Amsterdam.
- Glastonbury 2025: the band headlined the Pyramid Stage on June 27, 2025, which its manager described as the band's only concert of the year.
The band's management has said it is working on a sixth studio album and planned a break from touring. That pattern of long gaps between runs is the main reason The 1975 tickets behave the way they do.
Where to sit for The 1975
Recent tours have played arenas in an end-stage layout (the stage at one end of the floor), with the house set filling the stage. Check the seating map on each event before buying.
- Floor: the closest and loudest place to be, and the best way to catch the B-stage moments when they happen. On a general-admission floor (standing, first come, first served), the front fills early, and from the back third the house set is partly hidden by the crowd.
- Lower bowl facing the stage: the strongest seat for this production. The rooms of the set, the screens and the roof scenes read as staged only from straight on, and the view takes in the whole stage picture at once.
- Lower-bowl sides near the stage: close and raised, but a deep set can hide parts of the room interior and the roof from a sharp angle. Sections a little farther back along the side are often the better compromise.
- Upper level: the value tier. Center sections facing the stage still see the full set; corners close to the stage are the seats to skip.
How demand for The 1975 tickets behaves
The band's long breaks between tours concentrate demand when a run is announced.
- Presales take the first inventory. Fan-list and venue presales typically open before the general on-sale, and the front of the floor tends to go there.
- Big-room shows run hottest. Madison Square Garden, The O2 and other landmark arenas have hosted the band's filmed and special shows, and those dates carry extra weight.
- UK and US markets lead. The band has topped the UK chart with every studio album and reached No. 1 in the US once, so the largest UK and US cities draw the most demand.
- Weekend dates sell first. Friday and Saturday shows usually move before midweek shows in the same region.
Resale prices can sit above or below face value and usually move as the show approaches. GoodSeats orders include guaranteed entry. For announcements from the band, see The 1975's official site.
