The Weeknd as a stadium act

The Weeknd is the stage name of Abel Tesfaye, a Canadian R&B and pop singer born February 16, 1990, in Toronto and raised in Scarborough. He is a stadium act: his After Hours til Dawn Tour played only stadiums from July 2022 to November 2026, and it was reported as the highest-grossing tour ever by a male solo artist. For a ticket buyer, that means very large venues, a field-level floor, and a stage design that reaches well into the crowd.

He emerged anonymously in 2011 with three mixtapes, House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence, later collected as Trilogy (2012). Studio albums followed: Kiss Land (2013), Beauty Behind the Madness (2015), Starboy (2016), After Hours (2020), Dawn FM (2022) and Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025). He has won four Grammy Awards and headlined the Super Bowl LV halftime show on February 7, 2021. In 2023 he said he intended to retire the Weeknd name, describing the next album as a likely final chapter under it.

Inside the After Hours til Dawn production

The show is staged as a post-apocalyptic city. The main stage is lined with destroyed buildings modeled on Toronto, and a long catwalk connects it to a square second stage out on the field. An inflatable moon hangs over the second stage, and the European legs added chrome skyscrapers. Later versions brought in a large gold sculpture, expanded LED screens and pyrotechnics.

The layout matters for seating. He spends real time on the catwalk and the second stage, so the action is not confined to one end of the stadium. Seats that would be poor at an ordinary end-stage concert, such as the middle of the field or the sideline at midfield, are much closer to part of this show.

The tour, leg by leg

  • 2022: North American stadium launch, 22 shows, beginning July 14, 2022. On September 3, 2022, he lost his voice three songs into the SoFi Stadium show, stopped the concert and rescheduled it.
  • 2023: Europe and Latin America, 43 shows.
  • 2024: Australia, 4 shows.
  • 2025: a return to North American stadiums, 42 shows.
  • 2026: Europe, Latin America and Asia, including six consecutive sold-out nights at the Stade de France in July. As listed on his official site in October 2026, the final run went through Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok and Hong Kong and closed at the national stadium in Kuala Lumpur on November 5, 2026.

Across about 170 shows, reported attendance passed 5 million. Support acts rotated by leg and included Kaytranada, Mike Dean, Snoh Aalegra, Playboi Carti and Anitta. Future dates, if announced, will appear in the live event list on this page.

Where to sit for a Weeknd stadium show

Check the seating map on your listing, since field layouts vary by stadium. For the catwalk-and-second-stage design described above:

  • Field sections along the catwalk or near the second stage: the closest you can get for a large share of the set. The field is flat, so stand or sit near the runway rather than far behind it.
  • Field sections directly in front of the main stage: excellent for the main-stage songs, but you may watch the second-stage segments from behind.
  • Lower-level sideline sections: the strongest all-around choice. You look down the length of the catwalk and see both stages and the full city set.
  • Lower-level end sections opposite the stage: a head-on view of the production, and often closer to the second stage than they appear on a map.
  • Upper deck: the value seats. The pyrotechnics and the city set read well from height, but faces are screen-only.

Avoid seats marked behind the stage or limited view; the ruined-city set is tall and blocks a good deal from the rear.

How his ticket demand behaves

Stadiums hold far more people than arenas, so a single Weeknd date usually has wide price spread between field, lower-level and upper-deck inventory. Demand tends to follow a few patterns:

  • Presales release most first-wave tickets. Fan-club, card-holder and registration-based presales typically come before the general on-sale.
  • Added nights change the market. When high demand leads to second or third nights in a city, resale prices for the first night can ease as supply grows.
  • Field seats near the runway hold value. They are the scarcest category and usually the last to soften on the resale market.
