Who Zac Brown Band is and what you are buying

Zac Brown Band is the country and Southern rock group founded in Atlanta in 2002 by singer and guitarist Zac Brown. A ticket buys a long, musician-driven show from a large band (nine members in the current lineup) that mixes its country radio hits with extended jams and cover songs. The group mostly tours amphitheaters and arenas in summer and has headlined major-league ballparks.

The band broke through with "Chicken Fried" from The Foundation (2008) and has had 13 number-one country singles, including "Toes," "Highway 20 Ride," "Free," "Goodbye in Her Eyes" and "Sweet Annie." It won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2010, Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 2011 and Best Country Album in 2013 for Uncaged. Brown runs his own label and studio under the Southern Ground name.

What the live show is like

This is a players' band. Jimmy De Martini's fiddle carries the melody on many songs, Daniel de los Reyes adds hand percussion, and the arrangements leave room for solos that stretch songs well past their radio length. Covers are a regular part of the set, so expect at least one classic rock or soul song you did not come for.

The mood swings between beach-bar songs ("Toes," "Knee Deep"), Southern rock and quieter ballads. Wikipedia lists the current lineup as Zac Brown, Jimmy De Martini, John Driskell Hopkins, Coy Bowles, Chris Fryar, Clay Cook, Daniel de los Reyes, Matt Mangano and Caroline Jones, who joined in November 2022.

Where to sit for a Zac Brown Band concert

Most Zac Brown Band dates are at amphitheaters, so start there. Confirm the layout on each event's seating map.

  • Amphitheater pit or front orchestra: the closest seats, best for watching the solos up close. Some amphitheaters sell the front section as a standing pit.
  • Center reserved seats under the roof: the best balance of sound, sightline and shelter from rain. Sound at amphitheaters is mixed for the covered seats, and the soundboard usually sits in this zone.
  • The lawn: general admission (unassigned) grass behind the reserved seats. It suits the band's relaxed, sing-along crowd, but the stage is small from the back, so plan on the screens and arrive early for a spot near the front of the lawn.
  • Ballpark shows: the stage typically goes in the outfield facing home plate. Infield lower-level seats behind home plate face the stage straight on but sit far away; field seats are closer but flat. Seats along the foul lines near the outfield look at the stage from the side.

In arenas, choose lower-level sideline seats near the stage over the floor's back rows, which are flat and look past standing fans.

Eat & Greet and how demand behaves

The band's best-known extra is the Eat & Greet, a pre-show meal with band members offered as a VIP package since the fall of 2009. VIP packages sell in limited numbers through the band's own site, separate from regular seats.

  • Summer weekends sell first. Friday and Saturday amphitheater dates draw the strongest demand, and lawn tickets for those nights can go quickly.
  • Ballpark dates are events. A stadium or ballpark show draws fans from a wider region, so demand builds early.
  • Presales lead. Fan-club and venue presales usually come before the general on-sale, and the front reserved sections often sell in those windows. Resale is how most fans get those seats afterward.

Every GoodSeats order includes free shipping and no digital transfer fees.

Planning your night

Amphitheaters set their own rules for bags, lawn chairs and blankets, and many changed them in recent seasons. Check the venue's current policy before you go. Rain does not usually stop an amphitheater show, so lawn ticket holders should bring a poncho.
