The Titans' riverfront stadium, in its final seasons
Nissan Stadium is the 69,143-seat open-air football stadium on the east bank of the Cumberland River, directly across from downtown Nashville, and it has been home to the Tennessee Titans of the NFL and the Tennessee State Tigers since it opened in August 1999. It also hosts the Music City Bowl each December, the nightly stadium concerts of CMA Fest each June, and major stadium tours.
The building is near the end of its life. As of fall 2026, the Titans are building an enclosed replacement, New Nissan Stadium, on the adjacent lot, with an opening planned for 2027. The current stadium is scheduled to host its final Titans home game on January 3, 2027, and it is to be demolished once the new building is complete. If you have wanted to see a game here, the 2026 season is the last chance.
- Titans games: the NFL regular season runs September into early January.
- Tennessee State football: fall Saturdays.
- Music City Bowl: late December.
- CMA Fest and concerts: June for CMA Fest; stadium tours mainly spring through fall.
Seating layout: lower bowl, club towers and upper deck
The Nissan Stadium seating chart has three levels. Two towers rise along the sidelines and hold most of the stadium's 177 suites, so the sideline seats stack higher than the end zones.
- 100 level: the lower bowl that wraps the field, with sections numbered in the 100s (the stadium's accessibility guide lists sections from 102 through 138).
- 200 level: the club level, split into two sideline clubs. The East Stadium Club serves sections 202 to 222, and the Wesley Mortgage Stadium Club on the opposite sideline serves sections 225 to 245.
- 300 level: the upper deck, with sections running from about 303 to 344. Express elevators at Gates 9 and 10 serve sections 303 to 321, and those at Gates 7 and 8 serve 326 to 344.
Video boards sit in each end zone, so fans on the sidelines watch replays at an angle while end-zone fans have one board behind them.
Best seats for Titans games and concerts
Football
Lower-level sideline sections between the 30-yard lines are the best football seats, but row height matters more than people expect. The front rows sit at field level behind the team benches and lose the far side of the field once players stand. Rows in the high teens and above clear the sideline and still feel close.
The 200-level clubs give the cleanest overall view: a centered, raised angle and indoor club space, which counts for a lot during a cold December game. The upper deck on the sidelines is the budget choice that still shows the whole field; the upper end zones are farther away than the sideline upper deck because the suite towers push the sidelines up.
Sun and weather
The stadium has no roof, so September noon kickoffs are hot and late-season games can be cold and wet. For an afternoon game, seats on the west side of the bowl, facing east, keep the sun behind you. Check the seating chart's orientation before buying, and choose a higher row under the upper-deck overhang if shade or rain cover matters.
Concerts and CMA Fest
Most stadium shows use an end stage at one end zone. The sideline sections nearest the stage, in the lower and club levels, usually beat the far end of the field, where distance and a standing floor crowd limit the view. Avoid upper end-zone seats at the end opposite the stage.
Seats to think twice about
- Lower end-zone rows near the field, which see little of the action at the far end.
- Upper corners for concerts, which can sit almost behind the stage line.
- Sun-facing seats for early-season day games if you are bringing children.
Parking, shuttles and the walk from downtown
Parking
As of the 2026 season, on-site parking for Titans games is sold out, with no day-of sales on the stadium campus. The stadium directs fans to buy parking in advance through its parking operator, and parking for concerts is limited and must also be bought ahead. Many fans park in downtown garages and walk across the river instead.
Walking
The stadium recommends the Woodland Street Bridge as the fastest walk from downtown. It is one of the easiest stadium walks in the NFL, and Lower Broadway's bars are a short stroll from the other side.
Shuttles, buses and boats
- Gray Line shuttles: gameday and concert shuttles start 90 minutes before kickoff and run until about an hour after the game.
- WeGo Public Transit: free local bus service plus express and park-and-ride routes from outlying areas on event days.
- River boats: several Cumberland River operators run boats to the stadium on Titans gamedays.
- Rideshare: pickup and drop-off zones on Crutcher Street (south) and Gay Street (north).
Details change from season to season, so check the stadium's transportation page before the game.
Clear-bag policy (as of the 2026 season)
As of the 2026 season, Nissan Stadium enforces a clear-bag policy (bags must be transparent) at all events, NFL and non-NFL alike.
- Clear bags: 12 by 12 by 6 inches or smaller, including clear cinch sacks, clear diaper bags and one-gallon zip-top bags.
- Small bags: a non-clear clutch no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
- No workarounds: a non-approved bag cannot be folded into a clear one.
Lockers outside Gates 3 and 9 hold items that are not allowed in. The stadium discourages bringing bags at all. Check the current clear-bag policy before you go, since the rules can change when the team moves to the new building.
New Nissan Stadium: what changes in 2027
New Nissan Stadium is being built next to the current stadium on the east bank. As of fall 2026, the published plan calls for:
- An enclosed building: a translucent ETFE (a lightweight plastic film) roof, ending the sun, cold and rain questions.
- About 60,000 seats: roughly 9,000 fewer than today, with the stadium saying seats will be 38 percent closer to the field.
- A 2027 opening: Wikipedia lists summer 2027, after a groundbreaking on February 29, 2024. The total cost is about 2.1 billion dollars, with 1.26 billion in public funding.
- Bigger events: the stadium lists Super Bowl LXIV among events planned for the new building.
For buyers, the practical effect is fewer seats and new demand in 2027. Personal seat licenses (one-time fees for the right to buy season tickets) are already on sale for the new building, so expect strong interest in the final games at the old stadium and in the opening season of the new one. Every GoodSeats order is backed by a 100% guarantee.
Food and a short history
The stadium's A-Z guide lists it as a cashless venue, and the club levels add indoor seating and their own bars. Most fans eat downtown before crossing the river.
The stadium opened in 1999 as Adelphia Coliseum, became simply The Coliseum in 2002, LP Field in 2006 and Nissan Stadium in 2015. The Cumberland River flood of May 2010 damaged the building. It hosted the 2019 NFL Draft, the 2022 NHL Stadium Series, WWE SummerSlam in 2022 and Nashville SC's first MLS seasons in 2020 and 2021. Its record crowd, 73,874, came for an Ed Sheeran concert in July 2023.
