Vanderbilt football: an SEC founder in Nashville

Vanderbilt plays its home football games at FirstBank Stadium on the university's campus in Nashville, Tennessee, and the home schedule runs from late August or early September through November. It was called Vanderbilt Stadium from 1981 to 2022 and became FirstBank Stadium under a ten-year naming deal announced in August 2022.

A renovation that began in 2022 rebuilt much of the facility, adding wider concourses and hospitality spaces and reducing capacity from about 40,350 to about 35,000. The playing surface is artificial turf. Signature touches include a press box styled after a naval vessel in battleship gray, "The Admiral" foghorn sounded by Naval ROTC midshipmen, and the Star V victory flag.

Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and other SEC programs travel heavily to a city that is easy to reach and fun to visit, so road fans may hold a large share of the building for those games. As of the 2026 season, all four gates open two hours before kickoff: Gate 1 at the northwest corner near the Marriott, the Frist Family Gate (Gate 2) near Natchez Trace, Gate 3 near Hawkins Field and Gate 4 at the northeast corner near Memorial Gym.

• Tailgating: Vandyville, with more than 90 spaces, opens four hours before kickoff. Lot rules limit tents to 10 by 10 feet without stakes and prohibit kegs and trailers.
• Parking: season lots require digital passes, and single-game garage parking is sold in advance or on the day of the game.
• Cashless: the venue does not accept cash.
