The Rangers' covered ballpark in Arlington
Globe Life Field is the home of the Texas Rangers, a retractable-roof ballpark of about 40,000 seats in the Arlington entertainment district, between Dallas and Fort Worth. Capacity is listed as 40,000-plus by Wikipedia and 40,300 by Ballparks of Baseball. It opened in 2020, just south of the Rangers' previous home (now Choctaw Stadium) and a short walk from AT&T Stadium and the Texas Live dining and entertainment complex.
The roof exists because of Texas summers: it closes against heat and rain, so a July game no longer means sitting through North Texas heat. That changes how you choose seats here. Sun and shade matter far less than at an open-air park, and the choices come down to level, dugout side and how far you want to walk from your car.
- Rangers baseball: about 81 home games from late March or early April through September, plus the postseason.
- Concerts: stadium tours such as Green Day, Lady Gaga, Elton John and Morgan Wallen, whose October 2022 show set the attendance record of 43,598.
- Other events: college football, rodeo and professional wrestling have all used the building.
Globe Life Field seating chart: levels and numbering
The seating bowl stacks several tiers (Ballparks of Baseball counts seven, including the suite and club levels) around a turf field. Two full 360-degree concourses, one on the lower level and one on the upper level, keep the field in view as you walk. Main-level sections are numbered in the 100s and upper-level sections in the 200s; the Rangers' own guide, for example, places reverse ATMs at main-concourse Sections 113, 123 and 136 and upper-concourse Section 227.
Field and main level (100s)
The lower bowl wraps from behind home plate down both lines and around the outfield. The Rangers use the first-base dugout, so the first-base side is the home side. The Dugout Club is a sunken premium seating area that runs along each dugout out toward the foul poles.
Suites and clubs
The middle of the stack holds suites (about 120 in all) and club seating, with the best sightlines reserved for premium ticket holders.
Upper level (200s)
The highest tier, served by its own wraparound concourse.
Outfield features
- SkyPorch: a left-field bar with garage doors that open onto a deck with rocking chairs.
- Videoboards: a 58-by-150-foot board in right field and a 40-by-111-foot board in left.
- Left-field entrance: the main entry from Texas Live
When the roof is open, it slides back and docks behind the third-base grandstand. For football, the field is set with the end zones at left field and first base.
Where to sit at Globe Life Field
For a Rangers game
- Best overall view: the main level between the dugouts, about 10 to 25 rows up. High enough to see over the netting and the players in front of the dugouts, close enough to read the pitches.
- Closest to the home team: the first-base side, near the Rangers dugout.
- Best for a social night: the left-field SkyPorch area and the outfield, where you can move around rather than sit nine innings.
- Best value: the upper level between the bases. With the roof closed, the top of the stadium stays as comfortable as the bottom.
Seats to think twice about
- The first few rows behind protective netting: the netting at Globe Life Field runs all the way into the outfield, so the lowest rows along the lines watch every pitch through it.
- Deep outfield corners on the upper level: long distance to the plate and a sharp angle on the infield.
- Open-roof afternoons: on the occasional mild day when the roof is open, seats exposed to the sky lose the climate control that defines the building.
For concerts
Stage position depends on the tour. Lower-bowl seats facing the stage usually beat the back of the floor, where the view is flat and depends on the height of the crowd in front of you.
Globe Life Field parking, rideshare and getting to Arlington
Arlington has no rail link to its stadiums, so most fans drive or use rideshare. Plan for the car, and plan for the lot.
Parking
- Lots are identified by letter. The Rangers' guide lists general lots such as M, N, D, L and V, with pricing that varies by lot and rises for Opening Day and the postseason.
- Lots open two hours before afternoon games and two and a half hours before night games.
- Accessible parking is first come, first served in most lots, and a free ADA shuttle runs from the lots to the gates until about 30 minutes after the game.
- Buses and RVs use Lot D.
Tailgating
As of the 2026 season, tailgating is allowed in most lots except A, B and T, on grassy areas only, until the end of the second inning and for an hour after the game.
Rideshare and shuttles
Rideshare pickup and drop-off is on Chapmans Cutoff, south of Stadium Drive and Randol Mill Road. Some Arlington hotels run a trolley to the ballpark. Check the Rangers ballpark guide for current lot maps, since rules and prices change by season and event.
Globe Life Field bag policy and entry (2026 season)
As of the 2026 season, Globe Life Field does not require clear bags. Each guest may bring up to two soft-sided bags no larger than 16 by 8 by 16 inches. Backpacks are prohibited, except diaper bags, medical bags and Jr. Rangers backpacks within the size limit. Check the venue's current policy before you go, since concerts and special events can set their own rules.
- Gates: open 90 minutes before afternoon games and two hours before night games.
- Outside food: one clear, quart-sized sealed bag of food and one sealed, unflavored water bottle up to one liter per ticket.
- Tickets: Rangers tickets are digital, delivered through the MLB Ballpark app; screenshots are not accepted.

Amenities and accessibility
The wraparound concourses mean you can buy food or walk the ballpark without losing the game. The building is smoke-free, including vaping. Accessibility services include accessible parking, elevators, accessible restrooms, wheelchair escorts and sensory rooms.
From pandemic opener to World Series champions
Globe Life Field replaced Globe Life Park in Arlington, the Rangers' home from 1994 through 2019. Designed by HKS with VLK Architects and built by Manhattan Construction at a cost of about 1.1 billion dollars, it opened on May 29, 2020, with a high school graduation. The first regular-season game, on July 24, 2020, against the Colorado Rockies, was played without fans because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- 2020: neutral-site host of the National League Championship Series and all six games of the World Series, and temporary home of the National Finals Rodeo, moved from Las Vegas.
- 2021: Army played Air Force in college football.
- 2023: hosted Games 1 and 2 of the World Series, which the Rangers won over Arizona for the first title in franchise history.
- 2024: hosted the MLB All-Star Game.
The outfield dimensions run 329 feet to left, 407 to center and 326 to right.
