Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

From the Colt .45s to two championships

The Houston Astros play their home games at Daikin Park in downtown Houston, the retractable-roof ballpark known as Minute Maid Park until the start of 2025, and the regular season runs from late March or early April through September. The club entered the National League in 1962 as the Houston Colt .45s, an expansion team that debuted the same year as the New York Mets. It took the name Astros in 1965, when it moved into the Astrodome, a nod to the city's role in the space program.

After more than 50 years in the National League, the Astros moved to the American League West in 2013. They have since become one of the sport's most consistent winners.

  • World Series titles: 2017, over the Los Angeles Dodgers, and 2022.
  • Pennants: one in the NL (2005) and four in the AL (2017, 2019, 2021, 2022).
  • A long October run: seven consecutive American League Championship Series appearances from 2017 to 2023.
  • Rivals: the Texas Rangers in the in-state Lone Star Series, plus postseason rivalries with the Yankees and Dodgers.

Daikin Park: roof, Crawford Boxes and the train

The ballpark opened in 2000 on the site of Houston's old Union Station, which now houses team offices, at 501 Crawford Street. It has carried four names: Enron Field (2000–2002), Astros Field (briefly in 2002), Minute Maid Park (2002 through 2024) and Daikin Park (from 2025). Capacity figures differ slightly by source: Wikipedia lists 41,168, while a 2026 MLB.com guide gives 41,592.

The retractable roof, with about 50,000 square feet of glass, lets the team play on natural grass while keeping Houston's summer heat and storms out. Expect the roof to be closed for most of the summer; open-roof games are most likely in spring.

Two features shape the view more than anything else:

  • The Crawford Boxes in left field sit only about 19 feet above the field behind a manual scoreboard, and the left-field line measures just 315 feet, the shortest in the majors. Fly balls that would be outs elsewhere land in those seats.
  • The train, a full-scale replica locomotive on 800 feet of track above left field, runs when the Astros take the field, hit a home run or win.

Center field once featured Tal's Hill, an incline with a flagpole in play; it was removed after the 2016 season. The seating bowl has four levels: a large field level with about 19,200 seats, a second level of about 7,100 club seats, a suite level and an upper deck of about 13,750 seats.

Picking seats for an Astros game

The Astros dugout is on the first-base side and the visitors dugout is on the third-base side. If you want to be near the home team for warmups, choose the field level between the first-base dugout and the right-field foul pole.

Shade matters only when the roof is open

With the roof closed, sun is not a factor. When it is open, the park's north-northwest orientation means the sun sets behind left field, so the third-base side and the Crawford Boxes are the shaded side. For a late-afternoon open-roof game, nearly any seat between home plate and the left-field pole is in shade, including sections 108–116 on the field level and 408–416 in the upper deck, per ShadedSeats.

Infield field level

The field-level infield seats are the premium location. Middle rows clear the netting and the dugout roofs while staying close enough to see pitch movement. Seats directly behind home plate give the best view of the strike zone.

The Crawford Boxes

The Crawford Boxes are a destination in themselves. They are the most likely spot in the building to catch a home run ball, and the view looks straight across the infield from a low, close angle. The tradeoff is depth perception on plays in right field. For a first visit, they are one of the most memorable seats in the park.

Club and upper levels

The second-level club seats offer a classic raised view with indoor amenities nearby. The upper deck behind the infield is the value play, with a full-field view under the roof. The upper-deck corners in right field are the least appealing: far from the plate and angled toward the outfield.

Seats to weigh carefully

  • Deep right-field corners of the upper deck: distant and pointed away from home plate.
  • First-base side for open-roof day games: exposed to the afternoon sun.
  • Low outfield rows behind the bullpens: good for watching relievers, harder for following the infield.

Season calendar and the hottest tickets

The Astros train in Florida each February and March, play a 162-game regular season from late March or early April through late September, and, as recent history shows, often play into October. Their seven straight ALCS trips from 2017 to 2023 made postseason baseball a regular part of the Houston calendar.

Demand peaks at predictable points:

  • Opening Day and opening weekend sell quickly as the city turns out for the first home series.
  • Texas Rangers series, the Lone Star Series, bring in fans from the Dallas–Fort Worth area, a few hours' drive away.
  • Division rivals such as the Seattle Mariners matter more in a close race.
  • Yankees and Dodgers visits carry postseason history and big traveling fan bases.
  • Summer weekends are popular because the closed roof makes the park one of the coolest places in town.
  • Postseason games are the hardest tickets of all, and resale prices move sharply once a series is set.

Midweek games in April, May and September against out-of-division opponents are usually the easiest to buy.

Downtown access, parking and entry rules

Daikin Park is on the east side of downtown. METRORail's Green and Purple lines stop at Convention District station, one block south, and the Red Line stops at Preston station, about six blocks west. The team says roughly 25,000 parking spaces sit within walking distance, and Astros-owned lots are cashless. Tailgating is not permitted on those lots, and police enforce open-container laws.

As of the 2026 season, bags larger than 16 by 16 by 8 inches are prohibited, and soft-sided coolers within that size are allowed. Unlike many parks, Daikin Park lets each guest bring one factory-sealed clear plastic water bottle of up to one liter and food in a clear one-gallon plastic bag. Gates generally open two hours before first pitch, and there is no re-entry. Confirm the details in the team's Daikin Park information guide before you go.

Every order on GoodSeats is backed by a 100% guarantee, which matters most for high-demand dates such as the Lone Star Series or a postseason game.

Astros history in a few moments

  • 1965: the team moved into the Astrodome, baseball's first domed stadium, billed as the Eighth Wonder of the World.
  • 1990s and 2000s: Hall of Famers Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell anchored the Killer B's era.
  • 2005: the Astros won their first pennant and hosted the first World Series games in Texas, then were swept by the Chicago White Sox.
  • 2013: the move to the American League West.
  • 2017: the first World Series title, later shadowed by a sign-stealing investigation; MLB's findings, released in January 2020, drew wide criticism from fans.
  • 2022: a second World Series title, clinched at home.

The ballpark also hosted the 2004 All-Star Game, and Nolan Ryan is among the franchise's most celebrated pitchers.
