What Philadelphia's live-event scene covers
Philadelphia packs four of its five major-league teams into a single South Philadelphia Sports Complex at the south end of Broad Street, so an NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL trip can all run through one subway stop. Concerts and comedy happen mostly to the north: the Avenue of the Arts in Center City, the North Broad corridor and the Northern Liberties and Fishtown neighborhoods along the Delaware.
- NFL: the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field (capacity 67,594). The franchise won Super Bowl LII after the 2017 season and Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.
- MLB: the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, opened in 2004 with a listed capacity of 42,901. The Phillies won the 2008 World Series there.
- NBA: the Philadelphia 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Sixers have three NBA titles: 1955 (as the Syracuse Nationals), 1967 and 1983.
- NHL: the Philadelphia Flyers, a 1967 expansion team that won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, share the same arena.
- MLS: the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park, an 18,500-seat soccer stadium on the Delaware River waterfront in Chester, southwest of the city near the Commodore Barry Bridge.
- College: Temple plays football at Lincoln Financial Field, and Villanova men's basketball plays some home games at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Concerts in Philadelphia: from arena to amphitheater
The city's concert calendar runs on several distinct rooms, and the right one depends on the size of the act.
- Xfinity Mobile Arena: the main arena for touring headliners, with a concert capacity of about 21,000. It opened in 1996 and has carried several names: CoreStates Center, First Union Center, Wachovia Center and, from 2010 to 2025, Wells Fargo Center. It took its current name in August 2025.
- Lincoln Financial Field and Citizens Bank Park: stadium tours in summer, when the Eagles are not using the field and the Phillies are on the road.
- Subaru Park: a listed concert capacity of 26,000, used for occasional large outdoor shows.
- Highmark Mann Center: the open-air summer venue at 5201 Parkside Avenue in Fairmount Park, with a main stage, lawn seating and the smaller TD Pavilion. It marks its 50th anniversary in 2026.
- The Met Philadelphia: a Live Nation theater at 858 N. Broad Street that books concerts, comedy and theatrical shows.
- The Fillmore Philadelphia: a Live Nation club at 29 E. Allen Street in Fishtown, with a smaller second room called The Foundry.
- Kimmel Center: Marian Anderson Hall (about 2,500 seats) is the home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, at 300 S. Broad Street.
If you are looking for concerts tonight, the Fillmore, The Met and the arena carry the most frequent dates. For the Mann, buy lawn tickets if you want a relaxed summer evening and reserved pavilion seats if you care about sound and sightlines; lawn seating is far from the stage at most outdoor sheds.
Comedy shows in Philadelphia
Philadelphia has two full-time headliner clubs plus several theaters that book stand-up tours.
- Helium Comedy Club: at 2031 Sansom Street in Center City, near Rittenhouse Square. Shows typically run about an hour and 40 minutes with an opener, a feature act and a headliner, according to the club.
- Punch Line Philly: a Live Nation club at 33 E. Laurel Street, in the Northern Liberties and Fishtown entertainment strip steps from the Fillmore. It runs shows through the week, weekend matinees, a Saturday brunch show and Monday open mics in its Callback Bar.
- Theaters for touring comics: The Met Philadelphia and the Fillmore book comedians with theater-size followings, and arena-level acts play Xfinity Mobile Arena.
For a club show, the seating is usually first come, first served within your ticket type, so arrive when doors open if you want to sit near the stage. Weekend late shows sell out first. Check each club's age and food-and-drink rules on its own site before you go, because they differ by venue and by show. Helium and Punch Line both post their weekly lineups online.
Broadway, orchestra and the Avenue of the Arts
Philadelphia's theater district is the stretch of South Broad Street called the Avenue of the Arts. Ensemble Arts Philly (the organization that also runs the Kimmel Center) presents its Broadway season at the Academy of Music and the Forrest Theatre, and programs Marian Anderson Hall, the Perelman Theater (about 650 seats) and the Miller Theater, formerly the Merriam Theater. Opera Philadelphia and the dance company Philadanco are also among the Kimmel's resident organizations. Touring Broadway weeks at the Academy, especially around the holidays, draw from the whole region, so weekend evening performances go first.
The Philadelphia event calendar
- Spring (March to May): the Phillies open at Citizens Bank Park, the Union season is under way, and the Sixers and Flyers finish their regular seasons. A playoff run adds high-demand home dates at the arena.
- Summer (June to August): baseball most nights, the Mann's outdoor season in Fairmount Park, and stadium concerts at the Linc and Citizens Bank Park. Lincoln Financial Field also hosted six 2026 FIFA World Cup matches.
- Fall (September to November): Eagles home games on Sundays and in prime time, the Phillies' October hopes, and the return of the Sixers and Flyers. It is the most crowded stretch at the sports complex.
- Winter (December to February): Eagles playoffs if they qualify, NBA and NHL midseason, and holiday Broadway runs. The Army–Navy Game, played in Philadelphia more often than anywhere else, is scheduled to return to Lincoln Financial Field on December 11, 2027.
On days when two teams play at the complex, parking and the subway both get crowded. Arrive earlier than usual and plan a postgame meal nearby rather than joining the exit rush.
Getting to the venues
- South Philadelphia Sports Complex: ride SEPTA's B (the Broad Street Line, rebranded in February 2025) south to NRG Station at Pattison Avenue, the last stop, which serves the Linc, Citizens Bank Park and Xfinity Mobile Arena. SEPTA runs B2 Special express trains for events that make no stops between Walnut–Locust and NRG.
- Avenue of the Arts: the B stops on South Broad Street near the Kimmel Center and the Academy of Music; most Center City hotels are within walking distance.
- The Met: on North Broad Street, also on the B corridor.
- Fishtown and Northern Liberties (the Fillmore, Punch Line): a short rideshare from Center City, and a manageable walk from parts of Northern Liberties.
- Highmark Mann Center: in West Fairmount Park; most visitors drive or use rideshare.
- Subaru Park: in Chester, so plan on a car or regional transit and allow extra time on match nights.
The Eagles stadium's A–Z guide lists current gate times, parking areas and transit details for football and concerts.
Neighborhoods and visitor tips
- Center City (Helium, the Avenue of the Arts): the most practical base. Rittenhouse Square and the blocks around South Broad hold the greatest concentration of restaurants and hotels, and the B runs straight to the stadiums.
- South Philadelphia (the sports complex): the stadiums sit inside a ring of parking lots and highways. Eat before the game, tailgate where permitted, or use the dining and entertainment district inside the complex.
- Fishtown and Northern Liberties (the Fillmore, Punch Line): bars and restaurants line the streets around both venues, so a show there pairs naturally with dinner.
A few practical points:
- Bags: as of 2026, Lincoln Financial Field limits bags to clear ones up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches or small clutches; arenas and clubs set their own rules, so check the venue's current policy before you go.
- Cash: the Linc is cashless, and many other venues are moving the same way.
- Demand: Cowboys games and other NFC East matchups at the Linc, Phillies playoff games and Sixers or Flyers playoff runs drive the steepest resale demand in the city.
- Buying: every GoodSeats order is backed by a 100% guarantee, which matters most on those high-demand dates.
