The Eagles in brief

The Philadelphia Eagles play home games at Lincoln Financial Field ("the Linc"), a 67,594-seat open-air stadium in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. The NFL season runs from September into early January, with preseason games in August. Demand for Eagles tickets is among the strongest in the league, and the home crowd has a reputation to match.

Bert Bell and Lud Wray founded the Eagles on July 8, 1933, after the Frankford Yellow Jackets folded. The team won NFL championships in 1948, 1949 and 1960, and two Super Bowls: Super Bowl LII after the 2017 season, 41–33 over the New England Patriots, and Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, 40–22 over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans. Jeffrey Lurie has owned the team since 1994.

The Eagles play in the NFC East. The Cowboys are the rival that matters most to the fan base, with the Giants and Commanders close behind.

Where to sit at the Linc for an Eagles game

Lincoln Financial Field has three main tiers: the lower level (sections 101–138), the club level (sections C1–C40) and the upper level (sections 201–244).

  • Eagles sideline: the west side, around sections 101–104 and 137–138, with 101–102 at midfield. The Firstrust Bank Club sits at section 101 behind the Eagles bench.
  • Visitor sideline: the east side, sections 118–123 in the lower level and 223–228 in the upper level. There is no official away section; traveling fans tend to gather here.
  • Club level: padded seats and indoor lounges, and a good height for watching plays develop.
  • Upper level: the least expensive seats and some of the loudest. Rows near the top of the visitor-side upper sections, such as section 122 row 29 and up, sit under an overhang that keeps off rain but limits the view of high punts and the video boards.

For value, an upper-level sideline seat between the 30-yard lines beats a low lower-level end zone seat. The end zone seats feel close, but you lose depth on plays at the far end of the field.

Weather, sun and the visitor experience

The Linc has no roof, and late-season games can be cold and windy. The stadium runs north to south, so the east-side seats face west, toward the afternoon sun; that is the visitor sideline. For an early-season 1 p.m. game, the west side, behind the Eagles bench, is generally the more comfortable choice. In December, the sunny side is the warmer one.

A note for visiting fans: Eagles crowds are loud and partisan, and road jerseys draw attention. Sitting on the visitor sideline, near other fans of your team, makes for an easier afternoon. That advice applies most to Cowboys and Giants fans.

The Eagles home games fans want most

The Eagles play eight or nine regular-season home games a year, and few of them are easy tickets. Demand peaks for:

  • The Cowboys game: the most anticipated home date most years, with Dallas fans buying in from across the country.
  • The Giants and Commanders: both within driving or train distance, so visiting fans fill seats.
  • Prime time: Sunday, Monday and Thursday night games, which add atmosphere and national attention.
  • Rematches and marquee opponents: recent playoff opponents and teams with national followings.
  • Playoff games: the Linc hosted the NFC Championship Game in January 2025, a 55–23 Eagles win. Playoff tickets go on sale only days before kickoff.

Preseason games and early-season games against non-division opponents are where flexible buyers find the most room. In a season when the Eagles are contending, expect resale prices to climb from November onward.

Tailgating and getting to the sports complex

Lincoln Financial Field sits at the south end of Broad Street in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, beside Interstate 95. The simplest way in is SEPTA's Broad Street subway line to NRG Station, a short walk from the stadium; SEPTA buses 4 and 17 also serve the complex.

  • Tailgating: the lots open about four and a half hours before kickoff. Grilling is permitted in Lots A–G and M, N and P; tailgating is not allowed in Lots Q–W, north of Pattison Avenue and west of Darien Street.
  • Entry: Pepsi Plaza opens about three hours before Eagles games, clubs and suites two hours before, and the inner gates about 90 minutes before.
  • Bags: clear bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, a one-gallon clear freezer bag or a small bag about 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
  • Other rules: the stadium is cashless, smoke-free (including e-cigarettes) and has no re-entry.

These rules come from the stadium's posted guide as of the 2025 season; confirm the current version on the Lincoln Financial Field A–Z page before you go. Every GoodSeats order includes free shipping and no digital transfer fees.

Eagles history and notable moments

Before the Linc opened in August 2003, the Eagles played at the Baker Bowl, Shibe Park (later Connie Mack Stadium), Franklin Field and, from 1971 through 2002, Veterans Stadium.

  • The Steagles: in 1943, during World War II, the Eagles merged for a season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • The Miracle at the Meadowlands: Herman Edwards' fumble-return touchdown against the Giants in 1978.
  • The Philly Special: the trick-play touchdown in Super Bowl LII.

The fight song, "Fly, Eagles Fly," is a fixture of every home game. More on the team is at philadelphiaeagles.com.
