Mizzou football at a glance
Missouri Tigers football is the University of Missouri's program, and home games are played at Memorial Stadium, whose field is Faurot Field, in Columbia. Capacity for 2026 is listed at 63,609 on Wikipedia, while the university says its north end zone project brings the total to nearly 65,000. The Tigers first played in 1890 and have been in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) since 2012, after decades in the Big Eight and the Big 12.
The program's history runs through a few names. Don Faurot, a Hall of Fame coach, is associated with the Split-T offense, and the field carries his name. Dan Devine led the 1960 team. Gary Pinkel is the winningest coach in program history at 118–73, and his 2007 team went 12–2. In the SEC, Missouri won the East Division in 2013 and 2014.
Missouri is also recognized as the birthplace of homecoming, traced to the 1911 game against Kansas. Coaches and rosters change, so check the official team site for the current staff and schedule.
Where to sit at Memorial Stadium
Memorial Stadium opened on October 2, 1926, as a horseshoe and has since been built out at both ends. Each end now has a distinct character.
- Sidelines: the east and west sideline sections between the 20-yard lines are the best seats for following the game. Mid-level rows clear the benches and give the best view of plays developing.
- Student section: students have been in the southeast corner since the 2012 renovation. It is loud and standing-room in practice; family groups and fans who want to sit should choose elsewhere.
- South end zone: a facility completed before the 2019 season added 16 suites, club decks, a videoboard and a full concourse. Seat guides note the south end is one of the few places to find shade on a hot day.
- North end zone: the Centennial Project, completed for the 2026 season, rebuilt this end with 2,280 premium seats, including 71 suites, 628 loge box seats, 270 mezzanine club seats, 14 field-level suites and 24 Tiger Den suites, plus the 300-person Rock M Club under the hill.
The Rock M, a 90-foot-wide, 95-foot-tall M of whitewashed stones built by freshmen in 1927, sits on the hill behind the north end zone. Visiting fans pick up held tickets at the visiting team ticket office at Gate 6W, which opens two hours before kickoff. The university does not publish a visitor-section map on its gameday page, so confirm any listing marked as visitor seating.
Border War, Arkansas and the big home dates
Kansas: the Border War
Missouri and Kansas first played on October 31, 1891, in Kansas City, and Sports Illustrated called it the oldest Division I rivalry west of the Mississippi River. The series went dormant after Missouri left the Big 12 in 2012 and resumed in 2025, when Missouri beat Kansas 42–31 in Columbia on September 6. The schools scheduled further games for 2026 (in Lawrence), 2031 and 2032, so the next Border War in Columbia is years away.
Arkansas
The Battle Line Rivalry pairs Missouri with neighboring Arkansas in an SEC series that gives both fan bases a short road trip.
SEC opponents
Oklahoma, a former Big Eight rival, became an SEC opponent again in 2024. As with any SEC program, ranked conference opponents, night kickoffs and homecoming weekend draw the most demand, while early nonconference games are usually the easiest tickets to find.
Homecoming, Tiger Walk and gameday in Columbia
- Homecoming: Missouri's claim as the birthplace of the tradition makes homecoming weekend a major event on campus.
- Tiger Walk: the team walks through Lot C, between the South End Zone Building and the Stephens Indoor Facility, before each home game; the athletics department posts the time on its gameday schedule.
- M-I-Z-Z-O-U: the call-and-response chant dates to 1976, after the Tigers' upset win at Ohio State.
- Marching Mizzou and Truman the Tiger: the band and the mascot, introduced in 1986.
As of the 2026 season, Missouri's published rules are:
- Gates: open two hours before kickoff.
- Tickets: mobile through the Mizzou Tigers app; printed PDF tickets are not accepted.
- Bags: one clear bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, plus a clutch up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
- Re-entry and payment: no re-entry under SEC rules, and concessions are cashless.
- Tailgating: setup no earlier than 8 a.m., tents no larger than 10 by 10 feet, and no kegs or bulk alcohol.

How Missouri football tickets are sold
Like other SEC programs, Missouri sells most of its stadium as season tickets, and the best sideline locations generally go to donors with priority. The new north end zone premium seating is sold as its own tier. Students receive their own allocation in the southeast corner.
Demand climbs for ranked conference opponents, homecoming and late-season games with standings at stake, and that is when resale becomes the main route to good sideline seats. Prices move with the opponent, both teams' records, the kickoff time and the forecast. Every GoodSeats order is backed by a 100% guarantee. GoodSeats is independent and not affiliated with the University of Missouri.
Parking and getting to the stadium
Memorial Stadium sits on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, roughly halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis. As of 2026, single-game parking is sold in the PS7 Garage, lots open at 7 a.m., and golf-cart shuttles carry fans between east-side parking and west-side seats. Tailgate sites must be cleared by midnight or three hours after the game. The record crowd here is 75,298, set against Penn State on October 4, 1980, so a modern sellout is smaller, but traffic still builds hours before kickoff.
The stadium's name may change: in early 2026 the university was reported to be considering naming-rights options. Check the official site for the current name.
