My Chemical Romance, from New Jersey to stadiums

My Chemical Romance is a rock band from New Jersey that now headlines baseball and football stadiums, playing its 2006 album The Black Parade in full as a staged rock opera. The band formed in September 2001 and its lineup today is Gerard Way (lead vocals), Ray Toro (lead guitar), Frank Iero (rhythm guitar) and Mikey Way (bass). It is widely considered one of the most influential rock groups of the 2000s and a major act in emo and pop-punk, though the band has rejected the emo label.

Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004) went platinum, and The Black Parade, a concept album released October 23, 2006, gave the band its biggest hit: "Welcome to the Black Parade" reached No. 1 in the UK and No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Danger Days followed in 2010. The band announced its breakup on March 22, 2013, then announced a reunion on October 31, 2019. Its one reunion show in Los Angeles that December sold out almost immediately.

Inside the Long Live The Black Parade show

The current production is closer to theater than a standard rock concert. Each night runs in two parts:

  • Act I, the main stage: the band plays The Black Parade start to finish, in costume as the album's alter-ego band. A storyline set in Draag, a fictional authoritarian country ruled by a "Grand Immortal Dictator", runs between songs, with actors, an opera singer, propaganda on the video screens and a mock election in which fans hold up voting cards handed out before the show. "Famous Last Words" brings pyrotechnics.
  • Act II, the B-stage: after an intermission, the band moves to a smaller secondary stage out in the venue for a looser set drawn from the rest of its catalog, such as "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" and "Helena".

A sample set from Globe Life Field in August 2025 ran 15 songs in the first act and 10 on the B-stage. The production was scaled back for the 2026 Latin American dates, where the second set moved to the main stage. Most dates on the tour also have a different opening act, so check your event.

Tours and landmark shows

Dates below come from the cited tour records.

  • The Black Parade World Tour (began February 22, 2007): the band performed as the Black Parade until October 7, 2007, when it declared the character dead.
  • Reunion Tour (May 16, 2022, to March 26, 2023): rescheduled twice by the pandemic; the original North American run sold out in six hours.
  • When We Were Young festival (October 19 and 20, 2024): the band played The Black Parade in full for the first time since 2007.
  • Long Live The Black Parade (July 11, 2025, through November 2026): a 2025 North American stadium leg that opened at T-Mobile Park in Seattle and included two nights at Dodger Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Soldier Field and Fenway Park; a 2026 Latin American leg; Wembley Stadium in London for three nights in July 2026; a second US stadium leg from Citi Field on August 9 to the Alamodome on September 12, 2026; and festival dates.

As of October 2026, the tour's remaining scheduled shows were a five-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl on October 21, 23, 24, 30 and 31 (the last two billed as "Devil's Night") and an Asian leg in November 2026. Any further dates will appear in the live event list on this page.

Choosing seats for two stages

Because the show uses a main stage and a B-stage, the best seat is one that sees both. Stage and B-stage placement depend on the venue, so check the seating map on your event before you buy. For the stadium dates:

  • Lower level facing the main stage: the best way to follow the first act, which depends on the video screens, the actors and the staging as much as the music.
  • Lower-level seats near the B-stage: the payoff comes in the second set, when the band is suddenly close. Seats that look down on the B-stage and still face the main stage get the best of both halves.
  • Floor: the most energy, but a flat floor in a stadium means many fans watch the screens. Floor spots near the B-stage can turn into front-row views for Act II.
  • Upper decks: far from both stages, but the big screens, lighting and pyrotechnics still carry to the top rows, and the overview of the staging is complete.

The Hollywood Bowl is a much smaller outdoor amphitheater, so most seats there are far closer to the band than at a stadium. See the band's official site for production notes and announcements.

Why My Chemical Romance tickets go fast

Demand for this band has repeatedly outrun supply. When the first ten North American dates of Long Live The Black Parade went on sale on November 15, 2024, every show sold out within a few hours, about 365,000 tickets in all, and a second Los Angeles date was added. Fans also reported unusually high primary prices, which many attributed to dynamic pricing (a ticketing feature that raises face value in real time as demand climbs), and bots bought tickets to resell.

  • Presales decide the first wave. The band has used fan-club presales before the general on-sale on past tours, so registering early matters.
  • Resale sets the price after a sellout. On the secondary market, prices for a sold-out date reflect demand and can stay high up to show day, especially for weekend dates and one-night cities.
  • Special nights draw a premium. Halloween-weekend shows and multi-night stands in a band's strongest markets typically attract more buyers than a single weeknight.

GoodSeats orders include guaranteed entry, so the tickets you buy are the tickets that get you in.

Frequently asked questions

Does My Chemical Romance play The Black Parade in full?

Yes, on the Long Live The Black Parade tour. The band plays the entire album as a staged first act, then performs a second set of other songs on a B-stage.

How long is a My Chemical Romance concert?

A sample 2025 stadium show ran 25 songs across two acts plus an intermission, so plan for roughly two and a half hours with the opener before it.

Where does My Chemical Romance play?

The 2025 and 2026 tour played mostly Major League Baseball stadiums and other stadiums in North America, festivals, and a five-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl in October 2026.

What are the best seats for the Long Live show?

Lower-level seats that face the main stage and also look down on the B-stage see both halves of the night well. The floor is closest but flat, so many floor fans rely on the screens.

When did My Chemical Romance reunite?

The band announced its reunion on October 31, 2019, played a reunion show in Los Angeles that December, and toured from May 2022 to March 2023.
