Imperial Theatre · Oct 2026–Jan 2027 · 1h40, no intermission

Billy Crystal returns to Broadway with a 14-week solo show about losing the Pacific Palisades home his family lived in for 46 years.

Upcoming 860 dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

What 860 is

860 is Billy Crystal's new one-man show, playing a strictly limited 14-week engagement at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway. Previews began on October 1, 2026, opening night is October 21, and the run ends in early January 2027. Most announcements, including Broadway News and BroadwayWorld, give the final performance as Sunday, January 3, 2027; one theater guide lists January 2. Check the date on your ticket rather than assuming.

The title is an address. 860 Chautauqua Boulevard was the Pacific Palisades house where Crystal and his family lived for 46 years, and it was destroyed in the 2025 Palisades fire in Los Angeles. The show is an autobiographical evening about that loss and its aftermath: family, career, memory, and how humor and the people around him carried him through. Expect stand-up timing and storytelling rather than a plot with other actors.

Crystal on Broadway: 700 Sundays and after

860 follows a familiar shape for Crystal. His first solo show, 700 Sundays, opened on Broadway in 2004, won a special Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event and the Drama Desk Award for solo performance, and was filmed for HBO, where the special earned four Emmy nominations. In 2022 he starred in Mr. Saturday Night, a musical adaptation of his film of the same name, which received five Tony nominations, including Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Crystal.

The director is Scott Ellis, interim artistic director of Roundabout Theatre Company and a nine-time Tony nominee, whose Broadway credits include Take Me Out, She Loves Me, Doubt, On the Twentieth Century and Fallen Angels. A director with that much experience shaping plays matters in a solo evening, where pacing and transitions carry the structure that a cast would otherwise provide.

Runtime, schedule and who it suits

The show runs about 1 hour and 40 minutes with no intermission, so plan a restroom stop before the curtain; late seating may be held until a suitable break. Performances run Tuesday through Sunday with two shows on Saturday and none on Monday, and the holiday weeks carry their own schedule.

  • Age guidance: recommended for ages 12 and up because of the subject of personal loss. Children under 4 are not admitted to Broadway theaters.
  • Tone: comic, but built around grief and the destruction of a family home. Audiences who know Crystal from When Harry Met Sally..., City Slickers or Saturday Night Live will recognize the voice; the subject is more personal than a stand-up set.
  • Who should think twice: anyone directly affected by the 2025 Los Angeles fires may find parts of the evening close to home, which some will welcome and others will not.

Where to sit at the Imperial Theatre for a solo show

The Imperial Theatre, a Shubert house that opened in 1923, is one of Broadway's larger theaters, built for big musicals such as Les Misérables and Billy Elliot the Musical. The Shubert Organization lists 1,457 seats. They sit on two levels: an orchestra of about 759 seats and a balcony (often sold as the mezzanine) split by a crossover aisle into a front section of about 283 seats and a rear section of about 377, plus 20 box seats.

That scale matters for a one-person show. In a musical, a rear seat still shows you a full stage of dancers and scenery. In 860, the stage picture is one performer, and the value of a seat depends on how well you can see his face.

Best: center orchestra, roughly the first two-thirds

Close enough to catch expressions and the small physical comedy Crystal is known for, with no overhang above you.

Good value: front balcony, center

The first rows of the front balcony give a clean, raised sightline and often cost less than the prime orchestra. For a solo show, it is the best compromise.

Use caution

  • The rear balcony: the sound carries, but at this distance a solo performer looks small, and much of the show lives in his face.
  • Box seats: sharply angled toward the stage; acceptable for a musical, less so when the entire show is one person at center stage.
  • Rear orchestra under the balcony overhang: fine for hearing, but the space can feel removed from the stage.

How demand behaves for a star's limited run

A 14-week run built around one star sells differently from an open-ended musical. There is a fixed number of performances, the name on the marquee is the whole draw, and the calendar runs straight into the holidays.

  • Opening night, October 21: typically weighted toward press and invited guests, so fewer seats reach the open market.
  • Thanksgiving and Christmas through New Year's: the busiest weeks of the Broadway year, and the final weekend of 860 falls inside them.
  • Best selection: Tuesday through Thursday evenings in October and early November.
  • Saturday doubles: the matinee usually sells more easily than the evening.

Tickets went on general sale in June 2026 through Telecharge, after an Audience Rewards presale. On the secondary market, the center orchestra and front balcony hold their value best; rear-balcony seats are where prices give way first on weeknights. Planning a night at the Imperial

The Imperial sits at 249 West 45th Street, in the heart of the Theater District just west of Times Square, so the Times Square subway lines are a short walk away. Because the show has no intermission and the area around 45th Street is crowded before an 8 p.m. curtain, arrive 30 minutes early. For other one-person and star-led plays this season, see the planned Plays hub, the Broadway guide and the New York City guide. The show's ticketing details are listed on the Broadway.com announcement.
