Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
The Wolfpack program at a glance
NC State plays its home games at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, a few miles west of the main campus on Trinity Road, just off Hillsborough Street. The stadium holds 56,919, and the home season runs from late August or early September through November, usually seven home games. NC State is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and plays in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS, the top tier of NCAA Division I).
The program began in 1892. Its strongest era came under Earle Edwards, who won five ACC titles between 1957 and 1968; the Wolfpack added championships in 1973 under Lou Holtz and in 1979 under Bo Rein, for seven ACC titles in all. Later high points include Chuck Amato's school-record 11-win season in 2002, capped by a Gator Bowl win over Notre Dame.
- Notable players: Roman Gabriel, Torry Holt, Philip Rivers, Russell Wilson, Mario Williams and Bradley Chubb
- Retired numbers: Gabriel's 18, Holt's 81 and Rivers' 17, among others, displayed in the stadium
- Band: the Power Sound of the South
- Mascots: Mr. and Ms. Wuf, plus a live Tamaskan dog named Tuffy since 2010
Carter-Finley Stadium: where to sit
Carter-Finley is a fully enclosed bowl. The south end zone was closed with seats in 2001 and backed by the Murphy Center; the north end zone grandstand was added in 2006, after the Vaughn Towers premium and press structure opened in 2005. The stadium has the smallest clearance between the stands and the sidelines of any stadium in the ACC, so even mid-level seats feel close, and the noise stays in the bowl.
Sideline seats
- Between the 30-yard lines: the best view and the first seats to go, largely held by season-ticket holders and donors.
- Low rows: unusually close to the bench area, which is exciting but puts standing players and staff in your line of sight. Rows a third of the way up give a better view of the whole field.
- Sun: the field runs north to south, so on an afternoon kickoff the low western sun shines into the east-side stands. Seats on the west side keep the sun behind you; check the side on your listing map.
End zones and premium
- North and south end zones: the value seats. Higher rows help you follow plays at the far end; the 2023 north videoboard, more than twice the size of the old screen, makes replays easy to follow from anywhere.
- Vaughn Towers and Tuffy's Terrace: the premium options, with suites, club seats and a high vantage point.
Students receive tickets through a separate university system, and visiting schools get a ticket block. Expect a loud home crowd almost everywhere.
North Carolina, Wake Forest and the games to circle
- North Carolina: the rivalry that matters most. The schools first met in 1894 and have played every year since the ACC formed in 1953. UNC leads the all-time series, but the games since 1953 are close to even, and NC State had won five straight meetings as of November 2025. A home UNC game is the hardest ticket of the year.
- Wake Forest: played every year since 1910, the longest continuous rivalry in the ACC and one of the longest active streaks in the country.
- Duke: one of the Tobacco Road rivalries among North Carolina's ACC schools, with annual games resumed in 2023.
- Clemson: the Textile Bowl, rooted in the two schools' textile programs; it is no longer played every year under the ACC's current scheduling format.
- East Carolina: an in-state nonconference series that began in 1970, scheduled periodically and always intense.
UNC, ranked ACC visitors and November games with a bowl bid or a title at stake draw the most demand. Early nonconference games offer the easiest entry.
Tailgating and traditions in Raleigh
Because the stadium sits off campus and is surrounded by open lots, NC State gamedays revolve around tailgating, and fans arrive hours early. Lot opening times, RV rules and permit requirements change by season, so check the athletics department's Carter-Finley fan guide for the current rules.
- Red and white: the school's colors since 1895, and the expected dress code for home fans.
- Tuffy and the Wufs: the live Tamaskan dog and the costumed Mr. and Ms. Wuf work the sideline and the crowd.
- The band: the Power Sound of the South performs pregame and at halftime.
Nearly everyone arrives by car, so game-day traffic on the roads around the stadium is heavy. Plan your route in and out, and allow extra time after night games.
Bags, gates and stadium rules
NC State athletics publishes a clear-bag policy for Carter-Finley: one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches (or a one-gallon clear freezer bag) per guest, plus a small clutch no larger than 6.5 by 4.5 inches. Backpacks, large purses, camera bags and coolers are not allowed, and medically necessary items are permitted after inspection. The policy was in effect as of the 2025 season; check the current bag policy before you go.
Hot, humid weather is common at September games and there is little cover in the bowl, so bring sun protection and drink water.
How Wolfpack football tickets are sold
Season tickets cover all home games and go first to returning holders, with the best locations tied to giving through the Wolfpack Club, the athletics donor organization. The athletics department has reported season tickets sold out for years at a time. Mini-plans let fans pick a few games, single-game tickets are sold after season holders are served, and students get tickets through a separate system.
For UNC and other marquee home games, little good inventory reaches the public sale, so resale is how most fans get in. Prices respond to the opponent, the Wolfpack's record, kickoff time and weather, and they often rise late in the week before a rivalry game. Every GoodSeats order is backed by a 100% guarantee.
