Carolina Hurricanes Tickets

Home games at Lenovo Center, Raleigh · season runs Oct–Apr

A two-time Stanley Cup champion that tailgates like a football team. Here is where to sit at Lenovo Center and what to know before a Canes game.

Upcoming Carolina Hurricanes dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

From the Whalers to two Stanley Cups

The Carolina Hurricanes play home games at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, and the NHL regular season there runs from October into April, with playoff hockey possible into June. The franchise is older than its name suggests. It began in 1972 as the New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association (WHA, a rival league that operated through 1979), joined the NHL in 1979 as the Hartford Whalers, and moved to North Carolina in 1997.

The early Carolina years were improvised. While the Raleigh arena was under construction, the team played its first two seasons at the Greensboro Coliseum, roughly 90 minutes west. The move to Raleigh in 1999 gave the club a permanent home, and the results followed: a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2002, a first championship in 2006 over the Edmonton Oilers, and a second in 2026, when Carolina beat the Vegas Golden Knights four games to two and clinched the Cup on home ice on June 14, 2026.

The Hurricanes play in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. Division opponents such as the Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins appear on the schedule several times a season, and repeated playoff meetings have given several of those matchups an edge.

Where to sit at Lenovo Center for hockey

Lenovo Center opened on October 29, 1999, and seats 18,547 for hockey. It has carried four names: Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena (1999–2002), RBC Center (2002–2012), PNC Arena (2012–2024) and Lenovo Center since 2024, so older seating charts and tickets may show any of them. The arena also hosts NC State men's basketball.

The bowl has three tiers, numbered by level:

  • 100 level (lower bowl): the sections closest to the ice. Seating guides place the sideline sections at roughly 101–107 and 116–122, with the remaining numbers wrapping the ends and corners.
  • 200 level (club): the middle tier, with short sections of a few rows each, padded seats and club access for Hurricanes games. The arena lists 2,045 club seats.
  • 300 level (upper bowl): the highest and least expensive tier, with a full view of the rink and its plays developing.

For a first game, the best balance is a sideline seat in the upper half of a 100-level section or anywhere along the 200-level club sideline. Center ice (the red line, midway between the goals) gives the clearest read on line changes and breakouts. Many fans prefer the end where the Hurricanes shoot twice (they attack that goal in the first and third periods), because most of the home team's scoring chances happen in front of them. The club level, by one seating guide, sits near that end around sections 222–230; confirm on the event map before you buy.

Glass seats (row A, against the boards) give a sense of speed and contact that no TV angle matches, but the glass and the boards hide play along the near wall and in the far corners. Rows 10 and higher in the lower bowl see over that clutter. In the 300 level, the first several rows of a sideline section are a better value than corner seats a few rows lower in the 100s.

The schedule and which Canes games sell first

The NHL calendar follows a predictable shape. Preseason games are played in late September, the 82-game regular season starts in October and ends in mid-April, and the playoffs run from late April into June. Each team plays 41 regular-season home games.

Demand at Lenovo Center rises for a few kinds of games:

  • Division rivals: Washington, the Rangers, New Jersey and Pittsburgh draw visiting fans and carry playoff history.
  • Weekend dates: Friday and Saturday games, and holiday-week games around Thanksgiving and the New Year, sell faster than midweek dates.
  • Star visitors: a team with a marquee player or an Original Six club (one of the six teams that made up the league from 1942 to 1967) brings road fans to Raleigh.
  • Playoffs: postseason demand is in a different category, and resale prices move with every series result.

For the best value, look at Tuesday through Thursday games against Western Conference opponents in November, January and early February. Resale prices also tend to soften in the final hours before puck drop for lower-demand games, though that pattern reverses for rivals and late-season games with playoff stakes.

Tailgating, parking and gameday rules

Lenovo Center sits on Edwards Mill Road in west Raleigh, next to Carter–Finley Stadium and the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Most fans drive. The site has about 8,000 parking spaces, and the team sells advance parking through its app and online, which is cheaper and faster than paying on arrival. Rideshare works but can be slow after the final horn. Several GoRaleigh and GoTriangle bus routes serve the area, though service is less frequent at night.

Tailgating is the signature of a Canes game. Fans set up grills and tents in the lots before home games, a habit more common at college football than in the NHL. As of the 2025–26 season, the team says the lots open three hours before puck drop and tailgating is permitted there; the arena publishes a separate set of tailgating procedures each season.

As of the 2025–26 season:

  • Doors: 60 minutes before puck drop on weekdays and 90 minutes on weekends, subject to change.
  • Bags: under the NHL-standard policy, only clutches or wristlets smaller than 4.5 by 6.5 inches are allowed, plus medical and parenting bags after X-ray screening. The arena does not store bags.
  • Tickets: digital only; paper tickets are not accepted.

Check the Hurricanes gameday page for current policy before you go.

Caniacs, the Storm Surge and road trips

Hurricanes fans call themselves Caniacs, and the building has a reputation as one of the loudest in the league during the playoffs. During the 2019 playoff run the team introduced the Storm Surge, a scripted on-ice celebration after home wins that became a calling card of the franchise.

On the road, Carolina fans travel most to nearby Eastern Conference cities. Washington is the shortest trip, and games in Washington, Philadelphia and New York are where road crowds of Canes fans are most visible. Every order through GoodSeats, home or away, is backed by a 100% guarantee.

Moments that shaped the franchise

  • 2002: a run to the Stanley Cup Final, which included the comeback in Montreal remembered as the Miracle at Molson, before a loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
  • 2006: the first Stanley Cup, won over Edmonton; rookie goaltender Cam Ward won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
  • 2009: the Shock at the Rock, a late playoff comeback against the New Jersey Devils.
  • 2020: emergency backup goaltender David Ayres earned a win for Carolina on February 22, the 40th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice.
  • 2023: the Hurricanes hosted the NHL Stadium Series at Carter–Finley Stadium, beating Washington 4–1 before 56,961 fans.
  • 2026: the franchise's second Stanley Cup, clinched with a 3–0 win over Vegas in Game 6 at Lenovo Center.

The team has retired four numbers: 2 (Glen Wesley), 10 (Ron Francis), 12 (Eric Staal, retired in January 2025) and 17 (Rod Brind'Amour).
