Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.
A small-city franchise with thirteen championships
The Green Bay Packers play their home games at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, an open-air stadium with 81,441 seats. Preseason games are in August, the regular season runs from September into early January, and home playoff games follow when the team qualifies. Every game played in Green Bay, preseason through playoffs, has sold out since 1960, so for most fans the resale market is the only realistic way in.
Curly Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun founded the team on August 11, 1919. Lambeau's employer, the Indian Packing Company, paid for uniforms on the condition that the team carry its name. The Packers joined the American Professional Football Association, soon renamed the NFL, in 1921, and they are the only major league franchise in North America owned by its community as a nonprofit. More than 537,000 shareholders held stock as of 2022, and no one may own more than 200,000 shares.
Green Bay is the smallest market in major North American pro sports, yet the Packers have won 13 league championships: nine NFL titles before the Super Bowl era and four Super Bowls, after the 1966, 1967, 1996 and 2010 seasons. The run of titles under Vince Lombardi in the 1960s gave the city its nickname, Titletown. The rivalry with the Chicago Bears dates to 1921 and has passed 200 meetings; the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions round out the NFC North.
The season ticket waitlist, and why resale matters here
The Packers season ticket waiting list is one of the longest in sport. Sources differ on its size: the Packers entry on Wikipedia cites about 140,000 names, while the Lambeau Field entry cites at least 150,000. Either figure is larger than the stadium's capacity. The average wait is said to exceed 30 years, and with only about 90 season tickets turning over each year, the newest names on the list may never reach the front.
As a result, season tickets are passed down within families, and parents add newborns to the list. That structure has three practical effects for a fan who wants to attend a game:
- There is almost no general public sale. Nearly every seat is held by a season ticket holder before the schedule is released.
- Resale is the main supply. Season ticket holders who cannot attend a given game list their seats, and that is where most single-game tickets come from.
- Supply varies by game, not by section. Holders typically keep their seats for the Bears and other marquee games, and list more often for preseason games and lower-profile opponents.
Because the resale market is the front door at Lambeau, buyer protection matters. Every order on GoodSeats is backed by a 100% guarantee and guaranteed entry.
Where to sit at Lambeau Field
Lambeau's numbering follows a simple rule: even-numbered sections are on the west sideline, the Packers' side, and odd-numbered sections are on the east, the visitors' side. The lower bowl runs from section 100 to 138, with 119 and 120 at midfield.
- Sideline seats: sections 118 to 121 give the best angle. Middle rows, roughly 20 to 40, see the whole field over the heads of players standing on the sidelines.
- Bench seating: most of the bowl is aluminum benches without backs or dividers. Seat backs can be rented at the main gates, and a stadium seat up to 18 inches wide is allowed.
- South end zone: sections with an "S" suffix, added in the 2012 to 2015 expansion, have individual chairbacks and cupholders, and the 600 and 700 levels above them are the highest seats in the stadium.
- North end zone: low rows near sections 100 and 138 are where players make the Lambeau Leap into the stands after touchdowns. The view of the far end of the field is poor.
- Club seats: the 400 level includes club seating with indoor access, a real advantage for a December game with children or older relatives.
Sun and cold
For a noon kickoff, the east sideline and north end zone get the most sun and the south end zone stays shaded. For a 3:25 kickoff, the whole west sideline falls into shade. In September the shaded Packers side is comfortable; in December the sunny visitors' side is noticeably warmer, which makes an odd-numbered section the smarter late-season buy.
Schedule shape and the games that sell first
A Packers home season includes preseason games in August, eight or nine regular-season games and any playoff games. From 1933 through 1994 the team also played part of its home schedule in Milwaukee, and Milwaukee is still treated as part of the team's home market, which helps explain how far the fan base reaches across Wisconsin.
- Bears games draw the strongest demand. The rivalry dates to 1921, and Chicago fans make the drive north.
- Vikings and Lions games carry division weight and attract traveling fans from both states.
- Prime-time games under the lights at Lambeau are a bucket-list trip for many fans and tend to list fewer seats.
- December games bring the cold that made Lambeau famous. A brutal forecast can coax more holders to sell in the final days, while a game with playoff stakes rarely softens.
- Preseason games list the most seats and are the most accessible first visit.
Plan travel early for any regular-season game. Green Bay is a city of about 107,000 people, and hotel rooms within easy reach of the stadium fill quickly on home weekends.
Gameday on Lombardi Avenue
As of the 2026 season, the Packers' gameday guide says gates open two hours before kickoff, mobile tickets are required, and the stadium and team-run lots are cashless. The carry-in policy allows a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, plus a small clutch about 4.5 by 6.5 inches. Blankets must be carried loose, and battery-heated apparel is allowed. Check the team's Lambeau Field A to Z guide for current rules before you go.
Tailgating and parking
Tailgating is a central part of the day. In team lots, setups must stay within a space about 9 by 6 feet behind your vehicle, supervised charcoal and propane grills are allowed, wood fires and turkey fryers are not, and tailgating ends at kickoff. The Titletown lot does not allow tailgating. Many homeowners near the stadium sell lawn and driveway parking with their own rules.
Getting there
Green Bay Metro runs free gameday bus routes beginning about four hours before kickoff, roughly every 30 minutes, and continuing until about an hour after the game. For rideshare pickup, the team directs fans out the American Family, Oneida Nation or Potawatomi gates toward Mike McCarthy Way and Holmgren Way. The Titletown district next door, opened in 2017, has restaurants, a public plaza and a park, and the Packers Hall of Fame sits inside the stadium's Atrium. Stadium tours do not run on game days.
Road games, history and traditions
The division schedule makes road trips easy to plan. Soldier Field in Chicago and U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis are both within driving range of Wisconsin, and Ford Field in Detroit and U.S. Bank Stadium are both indoors, a welcome change for a December road game.
The history at Lambeau is its own draw. The 1967 NFL Championship Game, the Ice Bowl, was played at about 15 degrees below zero and ended with Bart Starr's quarterback sneak with 16 seconds left. The Lambeau Leap began in 1993. Each summer at training camp, young fans lend their bicycles to players for the ride from the locker room to the practice field, a tradition that has run for decades. In 2025, Green Bay hosted the NFL Draft for the first time, staged around Lambeau Field and the Titletown district.
