Upcoming Memphis Grizzlies dates

Dates and live ticket listings appear here as soon as they are on sale. The guide below covers what to know before you buy.

From Vancouver to the Grindhouse

The Memphis Grizzlies play their home games at FedExForum, at 191 Beale Street in downtown Memphis. The NBA regular season runs from late October to mid-April, with the playoffs running into June. The Grizzlies compete in the Western Conference's Southwest Division.

The team entered the league in 1995 as the Vancouver Grizzlies and moved to Memphis after the 2000–01 season. It played three seasons at the Pyramid before FedExForum opened in 2004, the same year the Grizzlies made their first playoff appearance.

The franchise's identity was set during the Grit and Grind era, roughly 2011 to 2017, when teams built around Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Tony Allen won with physical defense and inside scoring. In 2011, Memphis became one of the few eighth seeds to beat a top seed, knocking out the San Antonio Spurs in six games. In 2013 the Grizzlies reached the Western Conference Finals, their deepest run, before losing to the Spurs. The team has not won a conference or NBA title; it won division titles in 2022 and 2023.

FedExForum at a glance

FedExForum opened on September 6, 2004. It seats 16,667 for basketball, smaller than most NBA arenas, which keeps even the upper level relatively close to the floor. The city of Memphis owns the building, and the Grizzlies' operating company runs it. The University of Memphis Tigers men's basketball team also plays here, so the arena hosts two fan bases through the winter.

The seating bowl has two main tiers:

  • The lower bowl wraps the court, with roughly 1,000 premier courtside seats and a ring of courtside suites at the floor level.
  • The upper level sits above the premium ring, a smaller tier than in larger arenas.

Premium options include 27 courtside suites, 32 club suites, four party suites and 80 club boxes. The arena's location matters as much as its layout: Beale Street's music clubs and restaurants are steps from the doors, and many fans make the night a full downtown outing.

Best seats for a Grizzlies game

Courtside and the lower sideline

FedExForum's courtside and premier seats are the priciest in the building. For a better balance, aim for the lower bowl along the sidelines, about 8 to 18 rows up, where you can follow the whole floor and still feel the crowd noise the arena is known for.

Corners and baselines

The lower-bowl corners give a diagonal view of both ends and usually cost less than center court. Behind the baskets, the lowest rows put the stanchion and backboard between you and the far end of the floor; a seat higher in the same section sees more.

Upper level

Because the arena is on the smaller side, the upper level is a reasonable choice for watching the game, not just a cheap way in. Front rows of the upper sideline sections are the pick. The top rows of the upper corners are the ones to avoid if you want to follow plays without relying on the scoreboard.

For the atmosphere

Grizzlies fans are loud during runs and in the playoffs, when the team hands out gold Growl Towels. If the experience matters more than the sightline, the lower bowl near the home end and the upper level both carry the noise well.

Schedule shape and high-demand games

The NBA calendar runs from preseason games in early October through an 82-game regular season (41 home games) from late October to mid-April, a play-in tournament for seeds seven through ten, and the playoffs from April into June. NBA Cup group-stage games are part of the November schedule.

Because FedExForum is one of the smaller NBA arenas, strong games can sell through quickly. Demand tends to rise for:

  • Division and playoff rivals. The Spurs, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Clippers all have long playoff histories with Memphis.
  • Marquee visitors. The Lakers, Warriors and other teams with national stars draw visiting fans who travel to Memphis for a weekend.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Grizzlies and the National Civil Rights Museum co-host an annual celebration game; the January 2024 edition was the 22nd. It is one of the most meaningful dates on the city's sports calendar.
  • Playoff games. Postseason tickets go on sale on short notice and resale prices respond fast to series results.

Midweek games against small-market Eastern Conference teams in November and early December are usually the easiest to buy.

Getting to FedExForum and through the gates

FedExForum sits a block off Beale Street at the south edge of downtown Memphis. The attached garage holds about 1,500 spaces on five levels, with entrances on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue; season parking is sold for basketball and other spaces are first-come, first-served, with rates that vary by event. Many fans park at downtown surface lots and garages and walk.

As of the 2025–26 season, the arena enforces a clear-bag policy (bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC no larger than 6 by 8 by 2 inches, one per person). A one-quart clear storage bag and a small wallet are also allowed, and medically necessary items are permitted after inspection. Doors open 90 minutes before tip-off for Grizzlies games. Check FedExForum's guest information for current rules before you go.

Every GoodSeats order comes with guaranteed entry, so you can buy for a high-demand date with confidence that your seats will scan.

The arena's future and a few gameday tips

FedExForum is due for upgrades. The Memphis City Council unanimously approved a state-grant funding package of 350 million dollars for local sports venues, with FedExForum renovations among the planned projects, and city leaders have tied the upgrades to extending the Grizzlies' lease, which had run through 2029. Construction plans and timing were still evolving at last report, so check for changes in entrances or concessions before you go.

  • Eat before or after on Beale. The music clubs and barbecue spots nearby are part of the trip, but they fill early on game nights.
  • Arrive at doors. With a small arena and a clear-bag line, the 90-minute window keeps you out of the crush just before tip.
  • Watch the Tigers schedule. On weekends when the University of Memphis also plays at home, downtown parking tightens.
