The Panthers franchise at a glance

The Florida Panthers play home games at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, in western Broward County, and the NHL regular season runs from early October to mid-April. Florida plays in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division and is the southernmost team in the NHL.

The club began play in the 1993–94 season. It reached the Stanley Cup Final in its third season, losing to the Colorado Avalanche in 1996, and again in 2023, losing to the Vegas Golden Knights. Florida then won the Cup in 2024, beating the Edmonton Oilers in seven games, and repeated in 2025, beating Edmonton again in six. Both clinching games were played at home in Sunrise.

Three numbers are retired: goaltender Roberto Luongo's 1, founding owner Wayne Huizenga's 37 and founding president and general manager Bill Torrey's 93. The main rivalry is with the Tampa Bay Lightning across the state.

Inside Amerant Bank Arena

The arena opened on October 3, 1998, at 1 Panther Parkway, beside the Sawgrass Expressway. It seats 19,250 for hockey, and at least 20,000 with standing room. The Panthers played their first five seasons at Miami Arena before moving here.

The building has carried several names: National Car Rental Center (1998–2002), Office Depot Center (2002–2005), BankAtlantic Center (2005–2012), BB&T Center (2012–2021), FLA Live Arena (2021–2023) and, since September 2023, Amerant Bank Arena. Older tickets, maps and directions may use any of them.

  • Lower level (sections 101–134): the seats around the glass, with section 101 and its neighbors at center ice on the bench side.
  • Club level: premium seating such as the Lexus Club, near center ice, and the Corona Beach House in sections C6–C13.
  • Upper level (300s): the top bowl, with center-ice sections around 301–302, 317–319 and 334, and Lord Stanley's Loft in 328–330.

Where to sit for Panthers hockey

Center ice

Seating guides identify 101–102 and 134 on the bench side and 117–119 across the ice as the center-ice sections of the lower level. The Panthers bench sits in front of section 102 and the visitors' bench in front of 134, and the penalty box faces section 118. Row 10 and up clears the glass, which matters most in the first rows behind the benches.

The end where Florida shoots twice

The Panthers shoot twice (attacking that net in the first and third periods) toward the net in front of sections 125 and 127, according to one widely used seating guide. They usually cost less than center ice. Confirm the end on the listing, and remember the far net is hard to judge from low rows.

Club seating

The Lexus Club at center ice is the premium choice for sightlines plus amenities. Other clubs sell an atmosphere and food access; compare them with a regular lower-level sideline seat before buying.

The upper level

For value, the 300-level center-ice sections give a full view of plays developing. The upper corners and ends are the farthest seats in the building.

The calendar and the dates in demand

NHL preseason games are in late September. The 82-game regular season, 41 games at home, runs from early October to mid-April, and the playoffs run from mid-April into June.

  • The Lightning: the cross-state rivalry with Tampa Bay brings some of the loudest regular-season crowds.
  • Snowbird season: visits from Original Six and Northeast clubs such as the Bruins, Rangers, Maple Leafs and Canadiens tend to bring visiting fans, many of them winter residents, especially from January through March.
  • Recent Final opponents: the Oilers' visit carries extra weight after the 2024 and 2025 Finals.
  • Weekends and holidays: Saturday nights and the late-December holiday stretch.

Weeknight games in October and November against Western Conference teams tend to offer the most seat choice. Every order comes with free shipping.

Parking, travel and entry rules

Most fans drive. The arena lists 7,045 parking spaces on site, including garage, club and accessible spaces, and the arena sits beside the Sawgrass Expressway. Postgame traffic out of the lots is the slowest part of the night, so plan extra time.

As of the arena's current security policy, bags are discouraged and may be no larger than 4 by 6 by 1.5 inches; backpacks are not allowed, with exceptions for medical and diaper bags, and lockers are available outside the main entrance. One unopened plastic water bottle is allowed, and there is no re-entry. Check the Amerant Bank Arena security policies before you go.

Rats, renames and a Florida Winter Classic

The rat tradition dates to the 1995–96 season, when forward Scott Mellanby killed a rat in the locker room before a game and then scored twice. Fans began throwing plastic rats onto the ice after goals, and that spring the Panthers made their first Final run.

The arena has hosted the NHL All-Star Game twice, in 2003 and 2023, and the Panthers clinched the Cup on home ice in both 2024 and 2025.

On January 2, 2026, Florida hosted the first Winter Classic held in Florida, at loanDepot park in Miami, the team's first outdoor game and its first home game in Miami since 1998. The New York Rangers won 5–1 before 36,153 fans.
